Arrow Just Another JY 5.3 Build......

I have been working on this for a few months now, i wasnt going to do a build thread but figured, why not......

Setup:

2001 Z28
2003 5.3
Spohn solids
LS6 intake
Ported stock tb
LS2 cam
LS6 springs
Flipped truck manifolds
32x13x4 Fmic
Homemade merge
Homemade DP (4inch)
44mm wastegate
On3 76mm .96

Trans:

Built RMVB Th400
FTI 3500 stall
BMR crossmember

Started out like this

Got the old motor out

New motor put together

All done and in the car

Now time to build the hotside, used truck mani's with v-bands welded on

Crossover/merge being made

Hotside pretty much done

Rad put back in

Also got the FMIC mounted

Bumper cut to fit the downpipe/FMIC

Pretty much how the car sits now

I still have a good amount of parts to gather up before i can turn her over.....

How's the exhaust fumes with that front exit on the turbo?

Tolerable enough for a street drive?

I have driven a few cars with exhaust setups like this with no issues, little loud but that's something I'm used to.....

So your just running this right out of the junkyard right? Stock head gaskets and hardware?
With the exception of the stuff mentioned above.
How much are you hoping to make with the on3 Turbo?

Stock headgaskets/headbolts for now, although i have been thinking of throwing in some head studs just to be safe, as far as set goal im looking for around 600whp, should be plenty for the street.....

We have the same power goals.
I was tossing the idea of head studs as well just to be safe. Looks good and finally a thread that I can follow with similar goals and I'm assuming your trying to make this budget friendly?

Why didn't you just use the 5.7 and not loose any cubes? For your level does the iron block really matter?

I have about $3500 in the WHOLE setup including the purchase of the car, so yes I'm doing this on a budget.....lol

I didn't do it for the iron block, I did it because the ls1 had a good amount of miles on it, and for what I plan On doing power wise later on the ls1 wouldn't handle it.....

I would'nt bother on the head studs for 600hp. My stock head gasket/bolt 5.3 is holding just fine at 690whp its got about 60 passes at the track. Never even retorqued them.

Good to hear!

I'm more worried about valve float with the ls6 springs then I am about lifting the head.....
