yeah I definitely like the painted intake, I just don't wanna spend the time cleaning up the truck one cause no matter what it will still be ugly in my book, I'm gonna paint the beauty cover and run it instead lol

Well for the C10, I do plan to paint the TBSS intake and then toss the SS cover on it. part of a theme, I think.

a couple clearance pics, first the ps pulley to stearing gear box, it's a steel pulley for a 3.8 buick and per the a-body ps pulley thread I had to space the pump back using washers to get it inline for the serpentine belt, this was a major pia with all the washers and space left to insert the bolts but I couldn't find one of the ford van ps pulley's anywhere locally

oil pan to crossmember clearance with flipped s&p style adapter plates and energy suspension poly mounts, frame stands in stock location

driverside exhaust manifold to frame with the stock proportioning valve pushed up per 99vettefrc thanks for the tip

Great name...when your back is turned I am going to call you Rainbow Herbicide...lol

Here is the SS cover

The SS intake is on the left next to stock truck intake and LS6 intake.

also starting installing the lokar throttle cable, had to modify the pedal attachment point and shorten the whole cable about 2"

also put in the new gear indicator for the factory horseshoe style shifter, I really like how it keeps the factory look

got a few more things done, figured out my coolant hoses and steam port connection, finished hooking up the lokar throttle cable, got v-bands welded on the truck manifolds and painted flat black, painted the coil brackets and mounted them, piecing together my intake setup from stuff on the shelf and got my tranny set in place with the old th350 mount and stock crossmember just had to drill 2 new holes in the frame the other 2 lined up perfectly. I will have to drop the trans back out because it is hitting the floorpan on the driverside where the bellhousing bolts to the case, but it will work to get the car set on the ground check my angles and measure for a driveline.

sorry no tranny pics couldn't find the camera, i will post some up when i get everything in place for good

Looking really good!

If you want to clean up your upper rad hose a bit, a stock silverado/tahoe/suburban rad hose will fit assuming your rad is the stock Chevelle deal. For your steam port vents you can tap your water pump for a nice out of the way solution.

I swapped out for the LS1 intake and did away with the steam pipe all together. It is only there for bleeding for the most part. I used blockoffs like whats on the back of the heads. If you fill the rad till coolant just starts to come out then put the block offs on there should be no air lock in the cooling system. I did it and drove from Md to Pa and didn't have a problem.

sorry but I would NEVER suggest your method. Theres a reason why every performance LS on the market vents all 4 corners.

From what I've read only Ls1 engines vent from all 4 corners. My 4.8 only used the front 2, the back 2 were blocked off. I've also read the later engines don't use steam vents at all. I could be wrong but I've read that a couple palces.

Notice where number 7 cylinder is located...That everyone seems to burn up... Between the intake designs causing a slightly leaner condition and any possible steam trapped back there making it run hotter... bye bye number 7. I'm not willing to take that risk. There are several companies that make their own steam vent kits. All the big hitters use them.

So it's starting to get a little dusty in this thread without an update lol. I have been slowly working on my wiring harness and taking care of little details like the driveline, tranny coolant lines, you know the boring time consuming crap. Anyways I fired it up for the first time in the car the other night, only let it run for 10-15 seconds cause it was pretty late and it's open manifolds until I can get it to the exhaust shop. Hoping to get some more little stuff taken care of this weekend and post up a video of it running!

Short video clip of it idling before I headed to the exhaust shop, still have some misc. wiring to clean up and kind of wish i would have just bought a harness at this point. Would've looked a lot cleaner and had better placement for the fuse relay center and pcm, guess it will be another winter project.
