Default e85 and fi guys come in

im wondering do you need a intercooler when your running e85?

and what is a safe air intake temp? because the ait sensor can not messure the temp inside the manifold where the ethonal is actually injected so your not getting the right reading for ait. so what do you rely on the timming being pulled to mesure temp/ detenation?

i have been reading and 180 to 220 ait is actually safe because of the ethanol/ e85 is that ture

There are some that continue to test and push the limit of running w/o an IC. I on the other hand am running and A2W to add just that much more cooling. Cold dense air = more HP period.

I think that the ethanol is far more effective at cooling the intake charge in a carburated application than in a fuel injected one.

With regards to the ACTUAL intake air temp not being what the IAT says, that's true with ANY fuel injected application. So when a guy on here says that he is seeing 120* charge temps, that is after the intercooler but still before the fuel is introduced.

i am running 7 lbs, on 11.3:1 compression.

i am running a carb though.... and as mentioned before, they do a better job of cooling the air.

i am not running any intercooler.

I'm wondering the same thing. I was recently doing 10sec long pulls at 10psi in e85 fueled EFI 6.0l with no intercooler and it seemed fine and pulled hard. The IAT's were at 111F at the start and went up to the low 170s and the end of the run with no intercooler. I have the timing set at 15* and then it starts to taper down after 150F, it was at 12* at 170F IAT's.

so what is the highest you would let the ait get befor worrying with e85

we were tunning it for drivabilty and it got about 180. so my tunner (tpis) told me to put ice in the box. i stuck a 5 lb bag in and in a min it was gone. so im curous on what is safe with the ait

and i do not have a heat exchanger in the car yet. so i relying on the ice box
