Default How much power can this iron short block hold?

Seasond LQ9 bored .020 over, stock crank, Lunati Pro-Mod forged rods (6.125"), and JE forged pistons (-22cc dish). Should yeild ~8.2:1 compression with the 317 heads.

How much HP would this combo be "good for"?

1,231rwhp.

You will reach the failing point of the head gasket sealing before worrying about those parts. The crank would be next I think.

O-ring it and get the compression up unless you plan on running pump gas forever.

Definantly. The heads will lift before you break the block.

Also yes. I would just run LS9 Headgaskets since they be cheap. Also seem to be doing well on a lot of motors.

If your dead set against o-ringing the block, or going with andreas coopering set-up you can try a set of aftermarket heads like as cast TFS 235's and run a LS9 gasket.

Going to stick with the stock 317's for now and just put the ARP head studs and ls9 gaskets on it. I will realistically probably only push it to 20psi and I'm not even sure if the S475 will be able to keep up. At 13 psi i was trapping 115, at 15psi i was traping 118, and at 17psi it was going 120mph. I figure if I can put 20psi it should put me in the 122-125 range which is where I'd like to stay for a while. (1/8th mile of course).

Shoot man there are guys going 128-129 with forged motors in RS275.

You should be able to make enough steam to run 128-129 at least I would think.

Sent you a PM.
