05 GTO DIY Turbo, Cage, Mini Tub build
Well here it is. I bought this car about 2 years ago and tore it down 500 miles later. It’s finally getting to the point where I can enjoy all the time and hard work I've put in. I did absolutely everything with a hand from my dad every now and then. The block machining was a little out of my league but if you have any questions feel free. I've searched and searched for info before regarding certain topics and know how frustrating it can be to find what you are looking for. I'm no master builder or claim to be but can give my 2cents.
No turning back now!
The original plan was just to throw some boost at it, but it turned in to a little more.
Some of the goodies in the engine.
ARP 2000 hardware and scat rods
Melling oil pump, Cloyes true double roller timing set, Comp Cams 277 LSR turbo cam, Comp Cams lifters, Wiseco Pistons 8.5:1 compression
Crane Cams rockers and push rods, Lunati Valve springs
Here she is bolted up to a 4l80E trans that I got from a 95 Diesel truck. I rebuild it and installed a full manual valve body. The manifolds are C6 corvette manifolds flipped to face forward.
Engine back in a got most of the exhaust work done minus the waste gate and DP. I was forced to relocate the AC compressor to the work bench.
Intercooler and piping done. Had to remove the bumper support for more room.
First start n/a. The plug wires are for an LT1 with different ends for these coils. Turned out the Turbonetics turbo I had was a paper weight so I got a new 71HPQH billet wheel precision.
New drive shaft I had made.
Fuel system, Drive shaft loop, harrop diff cover, Porsche 930 CV joints.

Hacking it apart for the mini tub.
Finished the mini tub, turned out better than I expected.
Spacers I made for moving the shocks over a bit.
Corvette C6 wheels 18x8.5 front 18x10.5 rear with Nitto Invo series 295/35ZR18
S&W cage
Welding her in
All welded, painted and rear seats still fit with mini tub and cage. I know that’s how the cross bar isn't supposed to go but it’s a street car and I wanted people to be able to get into the back. Also can’t hurt to have a little triangulation.
Front seats were a challenge to fit but they are in.

Under hood shot, just got my fans wired up with a turbo timer. I found after a long drive then letting it sit the temp would go from 170 to about 210. So I wired up some relays and a cheap eBay turbo timer to run the fans after I shut it down.
Got it cleaned up for Cars and Coffee this weekend. Hopefully get a video of some dyno runs later.

It runs along the top of the exhaust manifold then down the back. I’m not sure what you mean by module? The tuning is being done with EFI live... Not by me tho, I'm not going to risk hitting the wrong number and making a very expensive mistake.
Very nice.
So you kept the stock rear suspension?[/QUOTE
I put polly bushings in the entire suspension and BMR drag bags in the rear. I haven't experienced wheel hop since. I’m going to wait until I wreck the rear diff and it will probably get a Ford 9".

I don’t have any of the install; here is one I just snapped of the finished product. It was originally a T-56 car so it had a nice opening. It took some time to get it mounted in the right spot. I used a piece of plastic that I painted flat black and glued to the bottom of the original opening. You can also see the switch and indicator light which is used to control the converter lock up solenoid in the trans. It is a pwm solenoid so I wired it in with an ignition ballast resistor in hopes of saving the solenoid. So far so good.

Nice work bud! I've been debating a cage and mini tub for my GTO as well. How did you like the fit of the s&w cage? Doesn't look bad at all. What'd you do for upper mounts after the mini tub as well? I like how you roll... All the work yourself. That's how I roll too.
What I meant to say is did you keep the springs and shocks in the stock location?
