Default what do you guys think of this noise

Lifter? Push rod? or? this is from a cold start. It's a ls2 with maggie 2300. Trick flow heads, yella terra rockers, blower cam (will post specs later). i used the same lifters that were in it with a stock ls2 cam. oil pressure is good and its a slp oil pump. running 20-50 VR1 (not syn).

Could be any of those things. Use a stethoscope ie screw driver pressed up to your ear and figure out which side it's coming from. Then pull the valve cover and take a peak. Mine sounded similar so I put litters in and the noise stayed but changed cylinders. I now believe it is a bad roller rocker.

so its a bad rocker arm. you guys ever see this happpen? looks like the center of the seat that the push rod sits in bored out. Just a bad rocker arm or could something else cause this to happen. Push rod isn't bent, little discolored at the top due sitting deeper in the seat but that's all. Only this one rocker too.

Does the rocker arm fulcrum spin freely?

Yes

Can you not just buy one rokcer anywhere? Looks like Jegs and Summit only sell a complete set. If not, hope Yella sends a new one!

sent pics to Yella Terra and spoke with someone there. He claims I hae too much motor for the rockers and that is the cause. 650 dual springs, Trick Flow heads, 1.5 push rods and blower cam. He is going to try and get it warrantied but not sure. These are there ultralight rockers. Anyone else running these with high horsepower FI engines? Or do I just replace them before more go bad?

well I need to get this thing back together asap and based on what the rep at Yella told me, doesnt sound like I will hear back on the warranty or not for a while. So I want to be prepared.

Ahy thoughts on whether I should replace all the rockers with something else or just buy a new one to replace the bad one? Anyone else running these in high HP FI cars?

I am starting to think that the issue may have been the rocker arm itself coming lose causing the push rod to wear out that cup. If you see in pic 2, there is a washer that sits under the rocker arm bolt sleeve. That washer came off when I took the rockers off but the other one stayed on the head as it was secured with some form of sealent. My guess is the washer broke free of the sealant causing the bolt and sleeve to work loose. And the noise gradually got louder.

Now I can't seem to find a replacement!! Seems like they are on back order. Anyone know where I can buy them? Would running a different brand, same ratio, cause any issues?

Why are you using 20-50? Why not 10-30?

I was adviced by a very reputable local speedshop to not use any aluminum roller rockers for my F.I. set-up, they said they have seen way too many failures just like yours from aluminum YellaTerra and HarlandSharp . So, I went with CompCams pro-magnum chromolly.

my builder has put several of these in 1000 HP engines. Just like anything else, manufactoring errors can and do happen. It looks like to me like the cap was either wrong or not fully pressed in.

There have been too many Yella Terra failure threads lately for me to even consider putting a set on a motor. I would take them off and use something else.
