Yeah, that's more than I want to spend right now. I would still be out close to $1,000 after selling my converter. I will give them a ring and see what they can do though.

Why don't you go with a trans-brake?

I know what you mean! My re-stall was supposed to be free. That was fun explaining to the misses.

Still will need the converter fixed and I'd rather put that money elsewhere. I'd have a grand in a brake, and probably a decent amount to have someone install it. I'm confident I can improve on the 1.38 60' I have already managed.

Why not just get your converter restalled so it's a little looser down low and then lock it up top since it's a triple disc.

I think it's plenty loose down low right now but it's inefficient up top. I really don't want to lock it every track pass though since it's hard on parts. I am mostly worried about blowing the engine apart but don't want to put a ton of strain on the trans/converter every pass either.

I have heard and read good things about the PTC non-lockup. I wish the Circle-D 252mm wasn't so pricy otherwise I would stick with them for sure.

Just coming into your thread. I want to go back and read the whole thing

I'm running a Jakes D3 brake and a triple disc converter built by Jake too. I'm not the best knowing what differences anconvertrr would make, but so far the car is doing what I think it should.

Do you still have the tune from your e85 7875 stock ecu. Looking for a good base tune and my build is very similar to when you were on the 7875. Another question. Do you still have your stock computer?

Yeah I do. What's your email address? I can get it sent over to you.

I sold the stock ECU awhile ago, sorry.

I have enjoyed your thread so much man, that I am going to take my 98 T/A along almost the exact same path! But, at this point, put a TH400 in the car with a proper brake and quality converter. If you build it correctly, you WONT hurt that TH400. You have a low enough gear in the car, and Im sure you dont roll around town @ 90mph, you wont miss O/D. If you really just cant live without O/D...you can always refinance your house and buy a gear vendors setup. Regardless of your choice of path, thanks for the inspiration and dedication to keeping us updated about the car.

Yeah I think so. I did some black Friday shopping and scored some pretty good deals from WS6Store. I only opened one box so far but here's where it's going...

I also ordered some Wiseco 4.005 pistons, the upgraded wrist pins, and some Viking double adjustable shocks for the rear. I am in the process of trying to find a good 6.0 block and crank so I can keep mine together until the new bullet is together. I am in no hurry to get the new one done but as soon as I have a block and crank I will take it all to the machine shop to get started.

I think I am going to pull the trans here in the next week or so and get that looked at by a buddy. I am still up in the air about what I want to do with the converter but right now I am leaning towards doing a PTC non-lockup converter.

Other than that I don't have a lot planned. Need to clean up some wiring here and there and want to do a few other minor things. My only goal for the spring is to have it ready to drive as soon as the weather is good instead of feeling rushed to finish it.

I have the chance to pick up a good 6.0 bare block for $350. It's somewhat local too which is nice. Is that an okay price for a bare block or should I try to knock them down a little more?

Do they have sonic data on wall thickness? If I recall, Stock48 found pretty significant differences when testing blocks he was getting/selecting. Not sure what the magical # is that raises concern about splitting or at what cyl pressure. As typical, safe tune helps everything. What can you get a complete engine for in your area and sell unused parts?

Not that I am aware of.

All the used engines on Craigslist or in the junkyard are $1000+.

6.0 prices have gone through the roof here in Houston. Looking at $1500 for a worn out lq4 or $1000 for a gen 3 5.3
