Default Not an LS... Hellion Twin Turbo Results 941 Rwhp 915 Rwtq

This is my personal car, 2012 Mustang GT, which we built in house. This is my first Mustang, as we are a LSX build shop primarily.
We initially developed a Single turbo system on this car late last year using a Comp 8079 turbo. We quickly found out that these cars have very weak valve springs and backpressure being developed caused valve float anywhere past 8 psi of boost. This was very disappointing to say the least.... So we scraped the whole single turbo system, built the motor with Manley rods and pistons and had a custom Napier Cut 2nd ring made, put together a fuel system in house, E85 fuel, and installed Hellion Twin turbo system.
The kit was not the easiest of installs but damn was it worth it. When you pop the hood everyones jaws drop. The engine with the top mount turbos is menacing. Myself and my employes were all very impressed with the fit and finish of this kit. Every time we thought something wouldn't fit, it cleared perfectly. The R&D that went into this kit is spot on. We initally didn't want to push the new engine to hard but that quickly went out the door. At 15psi we were making mid 800's and everything seemed to be working so well I couldn't not turn up the boost. The result as of right now is 941.4whp and 915.5wtq at 18.8psi and a car that runs around the street with the manners of a stock Mustang, as long as you keep your foot out of it.

I have owned some pretty quick street cars with 3 full weight 6 speed street cars running 10.1-10.4 in the quarter. This car makes those cars look and feel tame. I will be doing a few more modifications to the suspension and chasis to hook all the power, once that is accomplished I have no doubt that the boost will once again go up.

Wow does that keep on pulling. Wish I had a graph like that. Question,if you were just having valve float issues, why not just upgrade the springs first? That single kit could have worked well, right?

The impressive part is how broad the power range is, wow! Nicely done!

have you looked into the "Armageddon" twin turbo?
The guy that helped with this kit went and built his own. I was in Albuquerque when they first tuned the version one. Look for it on Utube. These 5.0 's are going to give ls a run for the money. Chris Johnson, finished the tune on the proto type, put together a No2 system for these that is cheap and has loads of power. I have an ecco boost truck waiting for a tune. I totaled my z06 and the mustang is looking very sweet indeed.

good job,
mike

we did, we upgraded to the livernois spring, but that only gave us another pond of boost before floating the valves, later we found out after measuring pressures they are only 10 lbs heavier on the seat... with this spring we are running now we could have easily run the single setup, but to be honest i lost interest in that idea, i sold off all the major components on the kit and decided to start from scratch..

took a week of tuning to get that power band... when i first started i couldnt get full spool until 5800-6000 rpm, but then i really started messing with the cam phasing and then the boost controller... the compination of advancing the intake cams and throwing more gate pressure at it, got it to spool much quicker, the cams alone were worth 800 rpm of spool up time...i am not a ford tuning guru by any means, i really dont even advertise ford tuning yet, i am gm tuner through and through, but i am starting to slowly get a handle on this ford tuning thing lol

never heard of them... this motor is badass, but i doubt it will take over what the LS has... the motor is simply too physically large to be transplanted into some platforms

Very nice power curve on a DD. What was the ramp rate? 200?

Did it cost more to build the 302, compared to an ls motor? I always here ford guys saying its cheaper to build and Chevy guys saying its cheaper for an ls motor. You have built both so I can get an honest answer.

yeah has to be at 200... otherwise way too much load... on the street it blows though that gear much faster then that.... in addition with more load we had trouble keeping the tires to holding on the dyno...

with pistons, rods, main studs, head studs, bearings, machine work, valvesprings, and misc gaskets right around $3500ish... that is with my cost on stuff however..not too bad, considering i dont cheap out on stuff.... a rod and piston LS would be a little cheaper to build because the mains and head studs are more expensive for the coyote, well at least they were when i built mine..

Are you willing to share your E-Boost settings?

How much did the gate pressure adjustments help the spool?

Are you using the RPM based compensation on this car?
