Default H/C/I guys wants to go procharger

Hey yall,

Well Ive always wanted a procharger, and well with all the money I spent on my car making it what is now I could of easily bought one. A little bit of info on my car. Its a 02 SS. 226cc 243's from AI. Trex Cam, Ported Fast 92 MM intake, LS6 ported oil pump. Ls7 lifters, ls2 lifter tray. ls2 timing chain. patriot gold dual springs, moser 9 with 4.30 gears. and yes I did have flycutting done to fit the trex with my heads. So question is. What all could I use off my set up? Im starting to get valve train noise like some serious noise from my driver side. not to bad, but i can def hear it. sounds like a sewing machine. so im just waiting for it to go any day now once I get back home and able to drive the car. So in the mean while Im getting a list of things I would need to start gathering parts. I want to go D1. Im tired of having a radical *** cam and DD it. so I would say a F1 is out of the picture for now. With my fuel pump, would my walbro 255 pump be eneough?

Things I know I will need to change:

-Gears in the rear probably 3.73 or 3.42's
-Different cam, but not sure what cam that would work well with my Heads.
- def want to change out my lifters, and springs.

Things I will need:

-Procharger of course
-Bigger injectors. I have 42's now
-Met kit
-FMIC kit off ebay

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

thanks Ray.

Your probably going to want different heads if your running high compression. A few guys run 11:1 CR but most of those guys know how to tune and are aware they are pushing the maximum limits of the shortblock. If your a regular guy like me - Id shoot for 9:5.1 - 10:1 CR and run 8-10psi max.
Id also sell the FAST 92 and use that money to buy a LS6 intake and a few other parts.

Depending how radical you want the cam to be, the LS6 is a great cam for boost and idles like stock. The EPP blower cam is very popular as well and still has that radical cam lumpity lump sound. The G5XB is another popular blower cam made by LG Motorsports. Thunder Racing also has a cam designed specificly for superchargers.

As for fuel, Most people will tell you to buy 60lbs injectors & a dual 255 fuel pump setup. That will support well into the 600's - maybe 700rwhp.

The 42lb injectors & single 255 should support 500-550 max.

Dont forget a Boost gauge and a Fuel pressure gauge. A wideband band guage would be a very good idea as well if you got the money.

Hope this helps.

change heads to lower cr like said above. If it were me I'd change out the pistons as well, but stock ls6 heads or 317 would be fine and cheap. as for cam a Brutespeed cam would be great choice. Do a d1sc with 8 rib and aster bracket you should make some nice power. go with some 80 lb inj.

You could always add the procharger to your current setup and keep the boost down. Then change the heads n cam as budget let's you. That Trex ain't the greatest for boost but ppl have run it with a procharger and still made great numbers/E.T's. Like said above save the headache and spent the money where it's needed. D1sc, aster bracket,8rib, ATI balancer N 60 or 80lb injector should take care of the major stuff . Also don't forget to pinned the crank
