Default 2010 Whipple Camaro w/ 4L80 Swap

Don't really fell like posting this in the 5th Gen section since I pretty much only hang out here. Customer's car, wouldn't mind it though as the 2010+'s are growing on me, albeit slowly. Takes a lot to get these pigs to move out good.

Major parts run down:
TEC 376 ci motor (JE pistons, oliver rods, stock crank, arp hardware) approx 9.2 comp
2.9L Polished Whipple w/ 3.375 pulley (seeing 12 tapering to 12.9#)
Stock A6 trans
FTI 3200 stall
Custom Cam
Stainless Works 1 7/8" headers and 3" exhaust
Bone stock suspension with Nitto's

Motor was not necessarily done for power purposes. There was a botched cam install prior to him getting the car that resulted in some locked up lifters, ground down cam, and tons of metal everywhere shortly after he acquired it. But if your gonna rebuild it, might as well put some good parts in it.

We are pretty satisfied with final results. Good power, car moves out well and the converter really helps it move off the line hard. Traction has become an issue and I'm trying to dial in the trans settings a little better but its getting there. Motor tune is spot on but these A6's are a bear.

Pic's and dyno

torque numbers are a little lower than I expected but I have a feeling its as a result of the stall slip on the hit and the cam moving the power band up. with the converter unlocked the torque skyrockets when you stab it

this is the first big gen4 (l99/ls3) build we have done so opinions would be great

thanks

Nice build, I like the Whipple blowers over the Magnuson so if I get one I'll probably go that way too.

These cars are heavy but got my A6 to go 13.15@106 stock with some practice. Cars need tuning of the fans to avoid losing a few tenths heating up in the staging lanes.

I agree......those numbers look more like a stock L99+whipple than one with cam and headers......

How much boost?

and its graphed . . .

we have had a couple PD blower L99's on the dyno (whipple and kb), both with headers, between 9-10#. neither broke 500 rwhp and they didnt pull up in the rpms like this one. the numbers are pretty on point, the autos eat up some power and dont dyno like the manuals.

I haven't read of many A6's dynoing over 500rwhp with blower + headers, more like 470-490rwhp.

Trans cooler?

put a decent sized hayden up front. temps stay around 180-190 driving around and hit 210 ish beating on it. hotter than i would like but its 90+ ambient here. might try a deeper finned pan the next time we change it

wanted to bump this as the car is pretty much at the point where its "done", for now at least.

neither myself nor the owner were ever really happy with the 6l80, how it shifted, and the traction issues with the crazy first gear ratio. after 50-60 passes it gave up and developed a huge flare on the 3-4 shift.

4L80 swap time!!!
Primary Parts:
- local built 4L80 with hardened input shaft, billet forward hub, and billet 36 sprag super drum
- fti billet triple disc 3000 stall
- pst aluminum driveshaft
- pcmforless trans conversion harness

car should have come like this from the factory, what a world of difference both part throttle and WOT. Gear changes are much faster and more firm, and its not shifting all the time like with the 6 speed. Holds 1st WOT until approx 60 mph and 2nd until 105-110, makes much more effective use of the power, even with the factory 3.27 rear gears.

also swapped out the factory rear wheel and tire combo for 18x11" forgestars and 305 M/T drag radials

he post on Camaro5 and I saw this from last night at SGMP

another run cut a 1.511, but et and mph were down so it was probably heat soaked. not bad for 4300#'s and a 100% bone stock suspension
