Default stock exhaust manifolds are seriously this thin?!??!

was grinding a little bit of material out for steering shaft clearance. literally ground on it for less than 15 sec. maybe 1/16th of an inch.

buddy says he can fix it but itll probably put the thickness right where it was to begin with. guess ill shim the motor up a little for clearance.

Is that a 6.0 or a stock f body manifold?

I'm assuming you can.mill it flat and weld a plate back in.

I've had better luck shimming the motor mount to gain clearance.

its a c6 manifold. i figure we can position a piece of metal to cover it from the inside then just weld it in. im not worried i was just REALLY surprised that the metal was so thin. i posted this for more of a warning for people than a gripe session

These cast manifolds don't normally have a uniform thickness on the entire unit, it varies from one area to another, and it looks like you just happen to hit the thinnest area where you needed to grind. And yeah, I would go with the way you're planning on fixing it since these are pretty easy to weld.
