do you have to run a waste gate with a turbo
I know in almost all case you need a waste gate to keep boost in check for what ever you are shooting to run, but can you control the boost with a eboost2 controller with the BOV only on the cooled side, deleting the waste gate?
If you can delete the waste gate will it hurt the turbo by over spinning it? say 7000rpm with no gate.
Will the turbo eat itself from centrifugal weight. lol the reason I ask.. I built my hot side got it all done and wrapped and it looks so sexy in tell I noticed there is no waste gate plumb into it
any input would be nice

funny story,
We hooked up the lines to the wastegate wrong one time when we were dynoing the Fairmont(we had just installed a heavier spring to get the most boost out of the Masterpower t70) and it was almost as if there was not wastegate on it.
It made like 18lbs and mid 5oos on a mustang dyno, then we realized the boost was plumbed to the top of the gate only, effectively holding it closed the whole time.
It the old days there was no wastegate, but the turbine housing was sized for max boost pressure at max engine speed. Sized to not run off the map at max engine speed and power.
These would not spool very fast at all, but worked for the application( ie airplane, train, boat, diesel etc.)
I wouldn't recommend you doing a turbo without a gate on it but technically you don't need a gate. TRUE.
