Default built engine with Melling 10296. 28psi PULL ENGINE ?

well cold im getting about 40-45 psi at idle, after it is heated up it runs at about 25 psi as you rev it to 2500-3000 rpms the oil pressure goes up to 45 psi. oil im pretty sure is 0w-40 moible

The engine has about 10k miles on it running 850rwhp,

I dont know what the oil pressure was when installed i just feel its to low should i just pull it now and do a refreshing ????

Is this a turbo engine? I know on my setup I was told by Heinz I needed valvolie vr1 racing oil 20w50 because the oil got so hot going through the turbo. But I don't know what kind of FI you have

Well, old school small blocks ran just fine with 20-25psi hot idle oil pressure but the consensus here seems to be that that's to low for an LS based engine. Put some 20w-50 VR1 in there and see what happens. Does the pressure rise when you get on it? Also the rule, I assume is still 10psi pressure for every 1000rpm.

how many miles on the the oil? if you have a decent amount of miles on the oil take the filter of and cut it open see whats in it.
or put 10 40 or 15 40 in it and see what it does 10psi for every 1000rpm

Mine sees about 20-25psi at idle hot. 75-80psi at about 6k rpm.

I would personally change the oil to 15w40

I use 5w40 rotella synthetic. At hot idle its 20 to25psi. My builder said thats how he sets them all up to. I wouldn't worry. Whats it at at about 6k rpm?

There would only really be an issue if it was not like this before, and it has suddenly happened.

The pressure isnt low enough to cause any concerns from a lack of pressure though.

As to whether or not it should be higher is another debate.
Ive the same HV pump on mine albeit with the lighter spring. It still makes around 35-40psi at hot idle, with lots when revving lol
I'm using a 10-60 though. I do not like thin oils.

I'm at 50 psi at idle goes to 60 psi giving gas. Breaking in block, so I don't know how much higher it will go as the rpms build up.

im guessing it the oil and its thinning out to much while hot. cause right after a drive it around 28-30 psi and after a while of idleing and reving it lowers to 20-25 psi. I will be moving up from a 0w-40 oil to a 15-40 or a 20w-50. But i want to have some one weld in more oil pan for the car so i can add a QT or 2

Im guessing the engine is fine so the rebuild will be later in life again. Just going to up the boost

If the oil pressure rises to 55psi plus when you rev it to 6000 I would not worry to much about it.
