LQ 6.0 built for boost but NA for a while..
Would like to know some opinions on what the possible numbers can be on a LQ motor at 9.5:1 built for boost but will be running na for about a year until funds allow turbo. Hoping to be able to get around 400-440 range but not sure if it's possible. Tried looking in the threads but unable to find anything.. Just don't want the motor to be super sluggish running around na.. What would be a decent or good power making head? Thanks guys

I know mine isn't stock cubes....its a 390ci LQ9.
If you're staying stock cubes....you'll need a healthy *** cam and good flowing heads to make 440 RWHP.
I'm also going 91mm single turbo...but not for about 7-8 months. I went with flat top pistons and its right at 10.8:1 so it'll be pretty powerful. Hoping for 450 RWHP. Then I'm going to a little larger chamberd, thicker deck head for the turbo set up.....which will drop me to 10.2:1. Gonna use full time E85 and 18psi......

Why do you care what it makes NA? Build yourself a motor to meet your ultimate goal. Then practice delayed gratification until you have the funds and time to achieve your true goals. My build took 3 years -and then I promptly broke the pinion gear...
My 9:1 408 with AFR225 heads, turbo grind cam, and cast manifolds went a lazy 7.5 in the 1/8 mile. Who cares anymore? A year later it's a lot faster with turbos.

Sorry guys forgot to mention this will be on 370 cubes.. If I raise the cr to 10ish:1.. Will that still be ok to slap a turbo on later? And e85 isn't available in my area.. Would really like to stay away from it.. Chevy 406.. Reason is that I don't want the car super sluggish while it's on that motor..

I've got a 02 LS1 and it dyno'd right at 400. It's got AFR 225s, Brute Speed Blower Cam and 1 7/8 headers. I've been waiting on a blower for over a year now. Good thing it's tuned for a 150 shot! It will be a pig until you get the boost.

What turbo and how much power are you going to be looking for boosted? Id just build it on the slight conservative side for NA and boost it. ported 317's or 243's 10~10.5:1 high 220's to mid 230's at .050'', 112~114 lsa would run decent both ways. Throw a S480 on that and there will be a TON of power. Id avoid the really wide lsa cams with huge exh split. Could also run 243's NA and switch to 317's boosted if compression becomes an issue.
