Default Building a manifold flip kit for a 2008 4.8 silverado questions.

Okay so a good friend of mine has decided he wants to throw a turbo on his truck. We have got everything picked out and started picking up the parts. Keep in mind this truck is a 4X4 not a race truck. He wants to give it a little pep before he lifts it and put bigger tires on it.

Goal is to run 10-12 psi on his 50K mile 4.8 using a on3 76mm. Keeping AC. Truck will have a MAF tune.

Truck has 799 heads.
Looking at 60# injectors.
twin 255's in the tank from racetronix
Tial sport 38mm wastegate donated from my old setup.
Stock fuel lines, and rail.
Ebay intercooler.
3.5" or 4" down pipe up to a cutout, then back into the 3" through a magnaflow muffler/ cats for the street.
Just picked up a 4L80e with 70K.
Gonna go with a 3000 stall from Cameron out of Columbia, Sc

I am going to copy this flip kit. As I just bought a new MIG and I am going to pop its cherry doing this. Then I am going to fab the new T6 hot side for my car. When we get into her in the next month I will take a lot of pics and might fab a couple more setups based off of it if anyone has interest.

Now I have a couple questions, First about the hotside up to the turbo, I would like to try 2" vice 2.5" pipe since its a 4.8L and the 2" will have less heat transfer area and increased velocity, will this work for it, or will it choke it? I know the norm is 2.5 which is what I am going to use for my 6.0L.

Next the 4L80E we pulled it from a rolled truck, does it need any work to survive or should we leave it stock?

What do you guys think.

i would stick with the 2.5" pipe. due to the on3's small 65mm turbine wheel that 4.8 wont have any trouble spooling it.

We are counting on the quick spool. I know a 76/75 would make a ton more power but hes not looking for a max effort truck just something fun making 450-500 whp.

His warranty expires in Jan, so he plans to have some fun with it as its just stock with a muffler and a tune now.

Forgot to mention we will be putting some 918 valve springs in as well.

It expires in Jan and it is the new body style, single cab long bed. I'm sure it will see its share of mud once its done. Pics wont be in until we start working on it sometime after Jan just wanted to get a few opinions before we bought the parts.

I really want to turbo my GMC sierra. Need to fix my car first though. Good luck with the build!
