706 heads on a stock 5.3L ported or not?
Anyone have real world power differences? Per say a before and after of the EXACT same setup with just porting the heads and possibly leaving the stock CC.
Display your power output and/or gains and setups,
thanks

do a mild port job and blend the bowls. you should have excellent results. if youre boosting it just mill them .005 to clean them up they are good heads for a boosted setup

There is no question it would pick up power. But they need to be well ported. Not just a bowl blend. That won't be enough. N/A you could see 50+ hp gain from porting. Throw 15 psi on top of that and see double. I wish the 5.3 boost guys would start using ported 5.3 heads. They would be way happier with them than stock 317's or 799's/243's.

I just put a 5.3 in my car and ported the 706's on it. No base to compare how it was before because i didnt run this combo with a 5.3 before. The upper RPM's seem to pull harder than my 370 did at the same boost level and broke my driveshaft shifting into 2nd... Havnt quite fixed it yet and probably wont have it out again till next year to see what it runs.

Im going to be using the PRC 2.5 706 heads on my 383 build with the full cnc port, already have them just waiting on my short block at the machine shop, hopefully ill have the car back up and running before summer time. its going to be a killer street combo with some small twins on it
