Default 100% stock motor + boost TIME SLIPS!!!

so i havent seen or heard of many completley stock setups being pushed with boost so i want to see what other people are running!

i just ran the 1/4 mile at Texas Motorplex this past weekend

my setup is a 147k stock ls1 with a 4l80e and 3400 circle d stall

HEADS HAVE NEVER BEEN OFF!!!

i made my own truck manifold setup and am running 14lbs of boost from a precision 67/66 (small turbo but it spools fast)

and simens deka 60 lb injectors

stock returnless fuel system with a walbro 255hph pump

all tuned by me using hptuners

my first pass was as folows
1.696 60'
7.268 1/8 @96.51
11.368 1/4@119.44

second pass

1.682 60'
7.287 1/8 @95.89
11.379 @120.36

later that night i made an apperance at texas raceway in kennedale texas (1/8 mile track)

the temps had dropped into the high 40's

ran a 7.11 @ 97.7

and a 7.13@ 96.8

i'm not sure how long this setup will last but i'll keep running it like it is until i have an issue.

currently i've hit a 85% dutycycle on my injectors so i donot want to push them any furtur

anyone else running a 100% stock long block feel free to post your times!!!

Your traps seem really low for an ls1 with 14lbs of boost.

Its in a full interior 2000 transam

And that is because the turbo is tiny

Most guys run two if these turbos as twins it dosent flow near enough air up top. Im planning on buying a second one as soon as i decide to build a motor.

97 mph in the 1/8 at ~ 3,800 lbs puts you around 510 rwhp. I don't understand why you are at 85% duty cycle with your 60#/hr injectors. It would be interesting to see your VE table, and injector flow values.

Couldn't you just swap with a tc76-78mm turbonetics turbo? They are good to like 800hp and spool quickly. I think you would gain like 100rwhp by switching to the tc78 with 14lbs of boost.

From what I calculate you trap about 15 mph higher than you would stock. That gives you right around an extra 170rwhp. So you're making about 12-13 hp per lb of boost. And if I'm not wrong usually people with some-what efficient turbo's are making 25 hp per lb of boost or so with stock-ish ls1's... Congrats on trapping 120 either way though!

For a stock 147k block with that CR and tiny turbo your car is hauling! For an untouched block that impresses me!

I know that a bigger turbo would help out. But i dont think the stock fuel system other than a pump and injectors would support 14 lbs out of a bigger turbo

I know the car could be running better. But for a 100% stock long block im pretty pleased with how its running right now

Its very consistent aswell!

Afr under max boost is 11.4:1.

And timing under boost is at 16 deg

I could go a bit leaner But with the motor being stock i decided to play it as safe as possible

i would agree with the other guys that your fuel pressure is probably dropping off or your pump is out, i bet your duty cycle is running away up top.

thats right on the edge of a single 255

Your car is faster than mine so I cant knock it, but, it seems slow for 14lbs of boost. Mine with around 150k when I went to the track with mods listed in my sig and about 100lbs more than stock weight in stereo **** and me (about 180lbs) ran a 12.08 @ 117mph with a 1.90 60ft at Memphis motorsports park in about 60deg air. This is on a 17x9.5, 17x11 ZR1 wheel and tire package from OE Wheels so thats a little extra rolling resistance over the OE setup. My engine is a 100% stock 99 longblock down to the valve springs with no meth, just 93 octane running 13deg of timming with an afr of 11.3-11.7 when it was dyno tuned. #'s in sig. It makes 5lbs of boost at 4000PM and it peaks at 8.5lbs of boost right at 6000rpm. The trans, converter, and rearend are also stock. Im not familiar with the CFM of your turbo but this lil Vortech is only 875CFM if that gives you any #'s to compare to.

ah!
i forgot about stock springs

they are absolutely holding him back

i bet a dyno pull looks all droopy at full boost like our truck

throw some pac 1218s in there for a cheap experiment, see how much faster the car goes lol

I am aware my pump is the limiting factor right now. The turbo is next on the list .

This setup was just a budget test to see how far i could push my 100% stock motor and nearly stock fuel system.

There are many upgrades i could do to make it better. But running 11.3's with under 1500 invested in engine upgrades. Im pretty happy with it for now until i finish saving money for a big build

I had a stock lq4 in my camaro with the on3 t76.I was running 14lbs car trapped 123 at pretty much the same weight.stock valves springs were definitely holding me back.car would start making real good power at 4000rpm then it would stop at about 5200rpm.
But fun none the less.
