5.3 with scat I beams gen lV pistons
How much would you rate this set up
2002 5.3 stortblock, stock crank with forged scat I beams, arp rod bolts,gen lV floating 5.3 flat top pistons, 317 heads,ls9 headgaskets and arp bolts... Has anyone done something like this? I already have all the stuff from left over builds except the scat rods good idea or bad?

Aren't forged pistons available from Wiseco or someone really cheap for these motors? If so, why not add that to the recipe and worry a lot less about breaking ring lands...

If your tune up is spot on you can make good power. I had a 4.8 with a s472 on 22psi and lasted a short time before it needed new pistons. Timing was alittle high for 1 pull at 22psi....didnt crack a ringland but #5 piston was oval shaped lol. If your doing rods you mite as well do pistons.....IMO the rods are stronger (05 and newer) then the pistons

Check out the latest on Denmah's Fairmont. 711 hp on gen 3 junk til the rods bent and 2 broken ringlands. Gen 4 broke ringlands on the dyno. I say push the stock junk to the limits or go ***** out on some shiny forged **** but don't mix the two. Just my . 02

Yea im gana do it cuz I have all the left over parts except for any kind of rods. So I thought y not just get the scat rods only 300 bucks with arp rod bolts and have it a 5.3 little beefy
