Default 85 c10 5.3 turbo build

I have been looking around here for a while. I am putting a turbo 5.3 in my 85 chevy c10 pickup. I have a 2002 5.3 already and that is about it so far. I am going to use a 400 trans with it. I have may questions and have searched most of them but some of the answers are all over the place. Anywasys here is what i have so far. I am looking for 550 or so to the ground. Street truck that may see some strip use but mostly street.

You should be able to use flipped manifolds of some sort with that much engine bay room. Lots of affordable options on turbos that would easily get you your power goals. The cheapest reliable unit is the S400. S400SX-75 for $649 with the small 83mm wheel and T6 flange. It would allow for really easy upgrades in the future.

Check out the Precision 46mm wastegate for around $320.

Sure you could use Ebay stuff too but the turbo and wastegate you could use is pretty affordable already and will last a long time. As far as engine mods go, Id put a set of Brian Tooley Racing valve springs in it, a set of spark plugs, and leave the rest.

I have looked at that brand turbo. I was thinking that the t6 flange would be to large. I was also told to stay around 91 ar too. I want lower end power. Like have full boost at under 3000 rpm. Is it possible with the turbo above? If so I like the price. Last one I priced was about 1200 with ball bearings.

I was wondering if 42 lb injectors would be good for 550-600 rwhp? I have heard 60s sometimes have a hard time idleing. Any one have a suggestion on fuel pump? I will be putting fuel cell in the bed of the truck unless i can find a good price on a frame mounted unit. I was also thinking of using -6 an lines for feed and return. Would that be enough?

I would run twin 255's into a y inside the tank -6 on each pump tied into -8 and into a bulkhead -8 in the wall of the sump with -8 feed and -6 return with a boost reference reg on the return side of the fuel rails... You will need 60's to support 600 rwhp .. I have already made that mistake

You will be flirting with the limits of that Pump on an inj motor.. Yes you can get the fitting to run fac rails .. But the Reg allows fuel press to adj for boost Get with Matt "Denmah" He is the budget guru... He wont steer u wrong

I beleve i have selected my turbo i want. I will be going with tc78. Talked with huron speed for a while last night and sounds like it will be a good turbo for me. Should have the money to guy it in a few week. In the mean time i will prob install the motor in the truck to moc up exhaust pipes. Is 2.5 from the manifolds to the turbo about rite? Plan on using truck manifolds for now unless they wont work.

Well i got the motor bolted in. Went in very smooth. I will not be able to use the truck manifolds like i had planed. Flipped facing down. I think i may have to use a log type that bolts to passenger side head. With factory maniflod in normall possition on driver side with exhaust pipe going under the motor to passenger side log. Do log maniflods make good power?

I have been looking at this type of manifold and was wondering it the best place for the wastegate would be the bend at the end of log right befor the turbo flange? Or will the gate also work good in the crossover between manifolds be better?

That looks like a Trick manifold. Both KBRacing and trick have kit's that will fit that truck.
