Default F-body Procharger w/Iron Block 6.0L - ????????

So there are a lot of 370's, 390's, and 408's out there with blowers.

What are guys doing on F-body's about the missing bolt hole on the iron blocks for the alternator mounting location?

I found these two threads but there has got to be more?

I don't want to just run with out it.

That works for one of the mounting holes, what about the other missing one?
The iron block is missing two mounting holes, one just needs to be drilled and tapped as you stated, the other is simply not there. See photos below

Here's how I did mine. I also drilled and tapped my block. It drills and taps really easy, blocks must be a soft metal.

Here's the link to the old set up I did..

But in the 3rd photo down in that link, I only see two bolts holding the alternator bracket on, (standoff locations 2 & 3 in the photos I posted above).

Since the j-bracket bolts to the alternator bracket, techincally there are only two bolts holding the blower on. Correct?

Am I missing something?

Ya I didn't have the 3rd middle bolt on so it was bolted to the block with the 2 bolts. I damn near stood on it and it didn't flex or anything so it would've been fine but never ran it to be 100% sure, just 99.999% sure, lol.

Just the two holes are more than enough for the alternator if you use the brackets on the back of the alternator to hold it in place. I have done it for my last two LS swaps and havent had a single problem

its just an alternator. it has very little resistance and having two mounting points will be more then enough. its the route we went on a friends 6.0l turbo car

I think he's wondering about the extra weight of the Procharger hanging off the front of it vs just the alternator. But as I stated, it was way strong when my Procharger was hanging off the front of it.

This is refering to f-body procharger kits, not turbo cars. The blower bracket bolts to the alternator, technically the alternator bracket.

I'm not so concerned with the weight, I am concerned about only two bolts holding the blower and the stresses it will put on those long bolts. These cars are already cursed with a bracket that flexes a bunch, then if you take away one of the three mounting locations, it will be worse.

No exprience with a J-Bracket but, with the bracket on the back of the alternator it will definatly keep the bracket from flexing.

I have never run into a problem with the one hole in the bracket not being used. We ran my iron block with it this way, both with the stock J bracket at 18 psi and then when we came out with the cog bracket, back at the old shop. Bob

If I am available when mine is done, I will get a video and some pics of how its done, for others too see. You would expect a really detailed writeup on it somewhere but its just not there but I dont think its really that hard to begin with. mess it up though, and i bet your in deep do do

So you are going to weld a plate and additional bolt hole, or what is your plan?
