Default stand alone waste gate . possible ?

Can a person run a stand alone waste gate with out a controller, and if so, do they make one that is manually adjustable ?

I want to find my desired boost pressure and just leave it there without having to worry about a controller.

Is this a possibility or do I need to run a controller ?

Im looking to run somewhere between 7 and 12 lbs I think .

Yes you can run a wastegate without a boost controller. The prssure is set by the spring inside. So to change the boost level without a boost contoller, you will need to swap springs. There are some adjustable wastegates on the market, but I personally have no experiance with them. I don't trust their design. I feel by adding more preload to the spring, you are also decreasing the overall amount it can open. Thats all for external gates at least. Internal gates can easitly be adjusted but changing the length of the rod. I would just get a manual controller though. They are cleap and easy to use. Remember though, you can never run lower boost than the wastegate is set at. Boost contollers only increase the boost above that.

I assume your running the common 76mmish on an LS engine? Check out the Precision Turbo 46mm gate, $315. Run the vacuum line from the compressor outlet to the bottom port on the gate and leave the top open to atmoshere.

When you say controller, do you mean electric controller, or manual controller? Manual boost controllers are simple and cheap, basically they are just bleeder ball valves.

You can DIY one for cheap, google DIY MBC and you will get lots of hits.

If you want NO boost controller at all, then ignore.

It's a bit of a strange question. But it seems that what you want, is just what every single wastegate available does.

Chosen spring pressure will approximately equate to your desired boost level, but there are many factors that can influence it

And yes you need to run a signal line from a boost source to the wastegate. In effect that is the primary control method.
This can be played with to increase desired boost pressure, and can be done so very easily. WHich is why it's often preferred to choose a slightly softer spring, and then bleed off to your desired boost pressure

Make sure you get a big gate. That little turbo doesn't need much exhaust pressure to spool.
