Didn't notice the X after the GT45 so I take back the chocking statement both are good choices I know that a cast wheel S483 is rated at 128 lb/min, the exhaust size on the BW is a little larger, Rumor has it there is a new forged compressor wheel in the works for the BW S483. In current form the turbo is capable of 1300 hp on a 400ci motor. Add a race cover and the new wheel and it will exceed the capabilities of the GT45X and probably be in the same price range.

I read somewhere the GT45X only flows around 100lb/min but I am having a hard time finding a map for it so it could be internet hearsay. So don't quote me on the flow rate.

You need a larger turbine than a 87mm wheel for a 400c.i. anything. 96mm wheel, 1.32 A/R housing and size the down pipe, crossover and primaries correctly with a good converter and you'll be golden. 402 will spool a 96mm wheel with no problems in a hurry.

I'd go with a billet S400-83/96. At least that's my preference between the two.

Lag... with a 96/1.32 and a 400 inch motor.....uhhhh yea... youll be looking at ways to calm it down so its not too stupid to drive.... Especially you cam it correctly.

As far as the whats an S483 worth question... are you asking price? Or hp capability?

Hp... 1350 ish. The billet 80 makes more power... its worth 1450-1500 ish.

True, asking for price and power, It seems every site I look at gives different power figures for it,

I thought the 83 was a billet wheel ? Or is that just a option ?

Cheers Jason

Theres both.

The billet 80mm im speaking about isnt a borg wheel...its a custom designed piece for that turbo.

It comes from Forced inductions.

Lag will be nonexistent on a 402 with that turbine wheel and housing combination.

Our new billet 83mm HO wheel is almost ready as well. Should make some pretty stupid power. We are also working on a new turbine wheel for the S400 as well. 100mm's of turbine goodness should free some things up.
