Default Th400 vs Glide with turbo?

Well I got my turbo, put the rear under the car, swapping gears from 3.73's to 3.50's, now it's time to decide wether to build a Th400 or a glide. The car should weigh no more then 3100lbs and I already have a good 4k Precision Industries converter. I was going Th400 but it will be harder to leave with and I'd like something that will consistently leave well at the track. Give some results from swapping.

I love the glide for a turbo package. My car is heavy, heavy and I just recently switch from 3.90's and a TH400 to 3.42's and a glide. Car just ran a best of 6.07@113mph. I also switched from a 5.3 to a 6.0 though so hard to tell true improvement but with just the trans and gear swap I at least went from 6.31's to 6.26 with less boost.

With the weight of your car I would go glide. I also like the idea of one shift.

Yeah your car is one that makes me want to glide, it's running hard for as heavy as it is. Did you ever put an inter cooler?

Not yet. I plan to but am not worried about it while the weather is so cool. My IAT's are still around 215 but again that is measured before the E85 hits it. I have my KR to low 1's and no burst knock so I am not worried about it. My timing is only at 17 now. Dudeman helped me with my timing table.

Well they both have the same high gear ratio so that doesn't really make a difference. I don't know what the power level will be but hoping for 750rwhp. I may have to either go with 3.27 gear or. 30" tires once I get the car dynoed and make a few passes at the track I'll go from there. I'm thinking the glide would be a good combo but I want to able to do 1.3 60's once it's dialed in.

I have a glide behind my ls twin set up in my mustang. It's nice. Stock case glide can hold good power, not as heavy as a 400. I've heard guys taking 1st gear out of the 400 because they have so much torque in first you don't need it in that light of a car. and also losses some weight.

both my turbo cars run th400 ,both cars are heavy. If it were a tube chassis car i would run a powerglide .A power glide in a heavy car makes it a dog.

I had originally planned to go th400 but I've noticed a few cars running quick with glides and turbo'd setups. My local track doesn't have the greatest prep so that's another reason I like the glide b/c it won't hit the tire so hard with the higher first gear ratio.
Topend how quick do your turbo cars run?

I'm running a 180 straight cut gear with a 3:55 gear in the rear. Haven't taken it to the track yet so i can't give you no et's. But on the street I feel like I'm in a stock car. lol My car is around 2900 with me in it.

Well I'm going to go with the glide, since my car is light 3100lbs with me in it. I should be Able to leave with 10+psii and get the car moving out quick with less traction problems. If it doesn't leave hard enough I'll spray n20 for 1-2 seconds and that will make it scoot!

Ill go with the glide setup as well since you want that good launch. A TH400 wouldnt be a bad idea either IMO, but a glide will suit you better for what you want.

385CILSX with LF88
TH400 here with 3.70 gears
1.172 60ft on 275s. More gear is always better IMO (as long as you can hook it up)
car weighed 3480

I agree with th400 making better ET's as long as you can get it hooked up. The local track I race at seldolmly hooks good only a few events per year. I would be a lot better off being able to get down the track easily then struggle with traction issues. Lastly the three quickest turbo 5.3's that all run 8's in the 1/4 all run glides.
