Help me size Wastegates and BOV
I need to size wastegates for my application but not sure how to do so.
Motor is a 427, will be running a 76mm single turbo, race application, not street driven, want to likely do dual wastegates but I want the ability to step up in turbo size later for different events, potentially an 88, 9x, or 10x size.
I'd like to make sure I don't have to change anything but the turbo and tune.
Discuss.

A larger turbo would probably like dual 44's a little better. When you reduce back pressure its a lot harder to control boost at very low levels with a small gate because the gate itself doesn't have so much pressure sitting behind it.
If your only trying to control boost down to 20lbs the 38's would probably work fine.

Last years stock LQ4 with a 60mm JGS WG, I was able to regulate the boost down to 4psi (lowest spring in the gate). That was with the 88mm turbo. It was crazy accurate, varied 0.2 psi the whole pass (AMS1000 w/C02). I'm going to try to use the same 60mm WG with the new 101mm turbo. Guess we will see.
That 427 will be using/consuming alot of what the 76mm can put out so the need for dual gates is less now with the 76 then it will be with the larger turbo down the road. Dual 44to46's mm WG's should work well now and down the road.
Good Luck.
