What 5.3
I.m starting a 5.3 build and got the everything rolling just need ideas and thoughts of what 5.3 for a turbo. I looked through Google but to no avail.
The question is what 5.3 would work best with a single front mount, for reliability and performance, its going to be a 90% drag 10% other. I was thinking L33 having a little more compression for low end get off the line a little better, but its alum. So and thoughts of what 5.3?
LM7
L33
LH6
LY5
Or does it even matter and just chose between alum or iron

How much power you looking to make? The aluminum block will hold 1000 HP and weighs 60 lbs less. The L33 has 799 cast heads which are basically LS6 heads. It also has the stronger rods. The only real downside to it is probably going to be initial cost, as I found all of the other engines for 600 to 850 before I finally found an L33 for 1200.

I would personally get an iron block, but thats me. Nothing wrong with aluminum. I just see it as with an iron 5.3 so you can punch it out to LS1 spec later.
If daily driver I would get the higher compression L33, that way you dont always need boost.
As far as what engine to go with, More or less your preference.
I added some links. I don't know if you seen these.

I don't really see much point in boring it out to a 5.7 to match an LS1. The .4 liter increase in displacement could be offset by a single pound of boost. Not to mention you'd be making one of the best things about the 5.3, the thick cylinder walls, thinner and weaker.

Assuming you mean reluctor wheel? Lingenfelter makes a conversion box to use on a 58t reluctor wheel motor, so your ecu can read it. Not positive what reluctor they have as they were 3rd gen motors. Pretty sure they started production in 05 which would be around the time they switched to the 58T. Either way the box is an easy solution
