Default What can i use to block off the power steering cooler line?

Will a normal vacuum cap work? And also anyone know what type of hose I can use to run to my expansion tank? Griffin welded the cap on the wrong side... So I have to find some type of hose that will work. I'm assuming vacuum tubing will work from any auto parts store. If anyone can help me that would be great. I'm trying to get this done today.

I don't follow what you are trying to do.
You can't block the power steering if it's still turning with the engine.
You may get a better response in one of the external engine sections.

I believe he is referring to the cooler lines that run thru the radiator hose.

Sorry I'm standing up my radiator and my car has a power steering cooler line going from the pump to the cooler, what can I use to block the port at the pump because I'm removing the cooler. And the line that goes from the radiator to the coolant expansion tank. What type of tubing can I use for this. Griffin welded the cap on the wrong side of the radiator so the line for the expansion tank has to be run across the support now from drivers side to the coolant expansion tank

Lol u were right in your first post, I'm addressing two problems at the same time.
1.Power steering cooler block off for lines that run through the radiator hose.
2. What type of hose to use for the line that runs from under the radiator cap to the expansion tank. The stock hose will not be long enough now.
They are not the same problem. Hope that clears things up.

Are u talking about the tranny cooler lines in the radiator?

And #2 must be about the radiator overflow line. Correct? Any line will do that can sustain any heat. Vacuum hose would work.

1. I left mine open on mine and eventually replaced the hose

2. should be able to pick up some hose from any parts store.

You cannot block your PAS lines or you'll blow the PAS pump.

So again, please explain clearly what you mean. If you are bypassing the radiator cooler, then you dont need to do anything with the hoses in the radiator other than let any PAS fluid drain out..

For the other hose, simply any rubber fuel line of the correct size will do.

Not the lines going to the rack, the line going from the pump to the cooler which is built into the upper hose, I can't post pics as I don't have a computer or I would.
MUSTANGBRKR02 what do you mean by left it open? Won't fluid come out of it? Or does coolant run into the pump? I was thinking power steering fluid ran into the tube?

So am I going to have to buy a pump that was made for an earlier f body without a cooler?

Fluid goes from Reservoir-pump-high pressure lines-rack-low pressure lines-cooler-pump/reservoir.

So the cooler side is on the low pressure and can be bypassed with suitable oil/fuel rated hose.

Yeah I think I got it figured out now, you just connect the pump to the rack directly. I bet a stock line that runs to the cooler will even work.

The power steering cooler was part of an option package on some f bodies and isn't on all of them.

Also Yes just take the cooler out completely. The return line goes from the rack to the cooler then to the pump. Just go right from the rack to the pump. And you should be able to use the stock lines to do that

When running no cooler on my car, and it's a cold climate here, the fluid in the reservoir does boil when driving for extended periods, and that's not even using the steering hard.

A cooler of some sort is a wise idea.
