Default Finally hit the dyno, but had issues

Well I got my 5.3 twin HX35's on the dyno but had issues, the first issue was the outside temp, It was only 38 deg outside so I had problems with getting the slicks getting any heat in them. So we decided to do some tuning and detuning from 28 lbs of boost down to a lower number to try and get the AFR dialed and get some kind of numbers down. but we still had issues after the detune with the slicks spinning on the dyno over 5000 rpm. So at this point we just decided to make short 5000 rpm pulls to get an idea of HP numbers. So this is what we ended up with. you can see in the video how fast and hard the boost comes on , so you could understand the tire spinning issue.

@ 5200 rpm we got some good results putting down 525 whp , 477 tq @ 14lbs of boost and a AFR of 11.6, these numbers we put down on 3 pulls. And all this on a Blow thru carb set up.

the slicks I used were hoosier's, and they were so old the rubber had hardened and wouldn't soften back up. the key to running slicks on a dyno is to run more air pressure than normal but mot more than double the air pressure. plus the older the dyno the less cross hatch in the roller from ware.

I had a Hurst cheater slick come apart on the dyno, it was a total mess. After I replaced the tire and repaired the body damage the car picked up nearly 200 horsepower because the tire was deforming so much. It made the dyno freak out when the tire moved around. Believe me, it sucked when my brand new turbo 5.3 only made 280 at the tire and it sucked a whole bunch more when I was picking up pieces of the slick in a parking lot across the street from the dyno shop!
