Default Rearmount turbo question

I know most kits are made to be used with stock exhaust manifolds. However I will be fabbing up my own kit off the manifolds/headers.

My question is:

Will the use of longtube headers gain or lose velocity and hurt performance over f-body/truck manifolds?

lose the LT headers unless you have a 6.0 or larger motor. the headers lose heat so you loose alot of energy associated with spool. you can get away with the the LT's but spool will be slow to climb. im running into this right now with mine. you can combat it a little but wrapping from the turbo all the way back, but the manifolds and and smaller diameter ypipe will help spool way more.

I was planning on coating and wrapping the headers.

I know the front mount guys use individual runner headers but much shorter distance. Pulses must not be a problem over the hotside distance.

It has nothing to do with pulses. The problem with longtubes is that they have so much more surface area to dissipate heat. Do not run long tubes, they're is nothing to be gained with them. Run manifolds, small diameter pipe, and wrap the hell out of everything.
