I agree 100%

FWIW I was at 16 degrees of timing on 13 psi at 10.5 compression....I dont think I want much more timing on my setup on pump gas 93. Another important factor is whether or not you wanna spray meth/water.

When I data log my IATS I can keep them at 5-10 degrees over ambient UNTIL I make a pass, then they jump up to 140 degrees, in most tunes the computer will start to pull timing so you can loose another 1-3 degrees buy just the IAT falling into these cells.

With meth you can keep iats a lot lower in boost, and increase timing even more...

Give the car what it wants, and don't fall into the trap of "timing envy". 10.76@131 in a 3700 crown vic with 16psi and just 13*. Non intercooled E85 and 50/50 distilled water and denatured alcohol.

So many things determine what timing your motor will like, and not one of the things your engine considers is what other people are doing.

Oh, and quit with that ancient distributor talk. I don't even know what "total timing" is. Lol
