Default Info on S475

I'm slowly putting together my front mount turbo build and was wondering if anyone could give me some info/ actual use on their motors. My Motor is a LS1 Forged 383 stroker with 8.5:1 compression. And its built for a lot of boost if i need it. I have searched some on here, but most of the S475's have the bigger exhaust housings and just comment how the think a .90 A/R will work.

Now a turbo I have found is a S475 has a 83mm turbine and a .90A/R exhaust. What kind of spool time can I expect? What kind of power can I expect?
My goals are 750+hp.

Get yourself a box stock BW S400SX4-75mm. It will be dirt cheap for the HP potential $700-$800 depending on who you go with and if you cam it right, it will spool like mad. It's about the combo. You are in a position to choose wisely.

Good luck,
Dave

Thanks. That ones seems bigger than a S475. Does BW randomly name their turbos its kinda confusing to me. Have you ran the S400SX-75 or know people who do? If so what kind of numbers are you or them putting down.

S200 and S300 series turbos are "small frame"; the S400 is "medium frame"; and the S500 is "large frame. S400SX-75 = S475. Definitely will need the 1.10 A/R housing.

BW never calls their stuff s480 or s475, someone at some point made that up. They go by their frame size, s300, s400, s500, etc, which is really describing the cartridge, then you have several wheel options per cartridge size. So you can have a 75mm compressor with an 87mm turbine in an s400, or up to an 82mm compressor with a 96 turbine in an s400 as well.

S400Sx3-75 is the borg warner nomenclature for the 75mm inducer compressor 83mm turbine unit...

S400Sx4-75 is the same compressor with with 96/1.32 hotside.

Do yourself a favor and PM Ott308 and ask him about his setup.. he had the smaller turbine with a 235/231 camshaft... then switched to the 96/1.32 version with a 235/239 camshaft that i did for him...

The bigger turbine spooled faster.

No way no how should you be putting anything smaller than the 96mm 1.32 turbine on a 383 inch LS engine. It will choke.

What he said. The "S475" etc...came from the Bullseye turbo guys...they originally used genuine BW parts. That's all I will say about that.

A Bullseye S475 turbo is not the same thing as a genuine BW Airwerks S400SX4-75.

Got mine from forced inductions for 650 dollars. S475.. 96mm turbine, 1.32 ar, t6. I love it. It spools plenty fast. Best reliable turbo for the money. For us small timers lol. I'm also on stock bottom ls1. Bought 96mm turbine version so I could grow. Get the big turbine. You won't be disappointed.
