Default WS6HUMMER'S Second build, GT4788 LS1

Well I outgrew my first kit and am building a second, I started march of last year but personal reasons made me loose interest for a while but I'm back at it again. Anyway here's what I got so far, I'm really trying to make this build a little cleaner than the last.

Its a Garrett GT4788 turbo, nothing fancy, I'm running a precision 66mm wastegate and haven't bought a BOV yet. This kit is a regular truck manifold setup just v-banded, running a 4" 11ga aluminum DP.

Turbo

Had them powder coated

Sounds like a nice simple solid build

What are your goals overall with this project?

Never can have too much water lol! No specific goal other than to run some 9's and see how deep I can get without a built motor, I was practically there with my old setup but had the kit sold and didn't have enough time to fine tune my tune to get me to my goal.

Thanks that's pretty much my objective, simple and clean. My goal right now is just to get it back on the track and street lol, I want it to run quiet too.

Thanks man, yep still rockin the stock LS1, I have a 50k lq9 and a 1.23 housing for the turbo if I can ever afford to build a motor, that wont be anytime real soon though.

Cool Hummer, this is Clint from Louisiana, Im building a turbo setup for my Transam too. Did you ever try those manifolds with just the flanges instead of v-bands?

Hey man long time no hear, I used the stock flanges from 1 truck manifold and 1 corvette manifold on my first build with no problems, I just wanted to v band this build to try to make it look a little cleaner that's all. Hope to see some pics of your build soon.

What track you going to these days?

Well I have been out of racing for the last couple years but we go to State Capitol and NPR mostly. Some trips to NPR and Evadale TX. My brother Earl is driving around in his 7second Mustang getting ready for Dragweek!

He had some problems last couple times to SCR trying to get that lencodrive/converter setup working right. He's been 7.50@180+mph but he's always changing stuff around to get the car where it should be with. 606ci and twin 88's!

I'm running that popular griffin that everyone's Been using but I'm gonna move the upper rad hose connection, its too close to the turbo so I'll be moving it to the rh tank and welding in a baffle in the rh tank to make it a double pass radiator, I'll post pics of that when I'm done too.

To hold the radiator in place I welded 4 little pieces of 16ga steel to keep it from moving, if you look at the pic of the turbo brace mounted to the fraim rails I posted you can see them on the bottom of the radiator support, just have to know what your looking for to see them.
