Default MV-r 44mm on a 6.0L with an S475

I just started to do some testing on my setup. Hoping Mabe someone will give me an idea that I haven't tried yet.

Im having major issues with not being able to control the boost (ive tried just vacuum line from TB, incab boost controller, no vacuum line at all). Ive got the lightest red spring in the tial mvr 44mm and im seeing almost 20lbs of boost everytime i step on it and it says there for as long as i have the khones to hold it. (im aiming for a constant 10lbs or so to do some fine tuning)

Setup is a 6.0L - truck manifolds - custom 2" SS hot pipes - wastegate is mounted just before the T-6 flange of the S475.

Tial mvr is brand new. Ive tried a few differnent spring setups starting with the 10psi setup now down to the 5 psi setup according to tial's chart

Any ideas?

Can you move it to the merge where it would get direct flow from where that bank ties in?

Wastegate placement is as wrong as you can do it. As said above it needs to be close to merge from each bank and angled in a way that it would want to naturally vent exhaust not a 90º angle as it is now. I have a 38mm gate and have no problem with controling boost down to 6psi on a 7668 turbo.

You're going to need a second one in order to control boost properly. And don't buy a Chinese 60mm , we have a stack of seized up ones from customers who had built there car and had issues and we had to replace them with a good quality waste gate. The Chinese ones are so hit or miss its not worth your money or time.

Made me shoot burning hot coffee through my nose.

Not the worst i've seen. Maybe should have stepped that 2" up to sch 10 2" or 2 1/4" after the merge. Got more tilt out of your wg to aid in flow. Where are you taking the boost signal from and where are you feeding boost signal to your wg from? Might be the problem.

Im in total agreement after looking at all my WG placement options this weekend and comparing it to my placement on another one of my trucks. Ill move it down a few inches to catch the flow from the passenger side manifold. Shouldn't be a big deal. Thanks for the help and input.

My vac line going to WG is coming from TB pass side port (Fast 92mm). My boost gauge is coming off my intake manifold.

I would not say it as wrong as you can be...there are guys with log setups that vent from the crossover and run insane times also your turbo is not even close to his in terms of turbine...not an apples to apples at all. He is having trouble controlling boost because his gate is too small for starters and I am struggling to see if that is actually as tiny a pipe as I thing it is feeding the turbo???

Have you tried removing the boost controller from the system and going signal only on the bottom?

You can also test by applying air to the bottom to make sure the gate is not sticking closed.

Yea I tried every different vacuum combo i could think of.

I ended up fabbing and weld in a turning vain that hangs down into my crossover 1/8", that directs more gas flow out the gate, so with 12lb spring is not holds 17lbs of boost pretty steady. Didnt totally solve the prob buy deff helps.
