Another "recommend me a turbo" thread..
Long story short, i love to repeatedly smack myself in the face with a hammer..so i think i may take on another project.
I have a 1995 Mustang GT I bought as a project car. After selling the 5.0/trans out of it, i have $300 invested . After pricing what headers and a decent set of heads etc are going to cost it seems the obvious choice is to just boost it.
6.0L, 317 heads, Tu1 cam, 4L80 or TH350, 2700lbs
Looking to just stick with a single turbo this time. Impress me with your brilliance LS1tech.

Since its clearly a budget car, the obvious choice is a borgwarner. In-fact youll get a few responses referring to "stock48" and how his car went bottom 8s on a stock bottom 6.0 with the new BW S476R. I know your car has the room so stuff a BW in there and dont look back.
If it were me, id go with the most badass BW 78mm or 80mm that Dr. Turbo would sell me.
Then there are your other companies but youll probably pay more although i am more than happy my PT76

Just something fun to mess around with. I am up in the air right now as to what I want to do. I just think I have more fun building cars lol. We have long boring winters up here. I would like 600-700 wheel though.
Just the Trans Am for right now, i have the Mustang sitting in the garage and my boring N/A 09' Sierra for a DD

That S480 will give you plenty of room to grow too. I say go with that one. Putting a LSx into a SN95 Mustang is going to be pretty awesome. Not too many of them out there. I know there is a thread on SVTperformance of a turbo LSx SN95 Mustang and that thread has turned into a real "**** storm" if you know what I mean. Some pretty upset purists over there

Well with my limited experience so far with a s480 on my little 5.3 I think it would be great. I also have a 4L80e and a 4000 rpm stall. It crosses into positive pressure by 3200 rpms in 1st gear, but the converter jumps to 3000 instantly so on a stick car it may happen sooner with more load. 4200 rpms it was sitting at 10 psi with only 59% throttle and picking up steam. It was quite obvious it was ramping in quick. I just let out as the tune is still in its infancy. Footbraking it for the first time.
Edit: Mine is the T6 1.10 AR 92mm turbine.

Thanks...my junk is starting to come together. It still has a lot of work yet, but it is nice to see it move and drive for all I have been through to get it there. I am not sure it is the most "budget" turbo, but the 96mm 1.32 AR at $900 or so is not too much more than many ebay turbos and will make a ton more hp I am sure with the right car. I went with the 92mm turbine and smaller AR T6 (little more money) due to having slightly less CI but on a 6.0 I am sure the 96 mm would light off plenty fast with the right cam. LilJohn helped me spec the cam and although not ideal it was what I had the money for at the time. That may get swapped out at some point for something a little more optimized for my particular car.
