Default turbo on stock ls1 with 175K miles?

i have 2000 trans am with ~ 175K miles, and it's my daily driver. I'm looking at installing a turbo and running low boost 5-6 psi. is it a bad idea to invest in a turbo with that many miles on the car? car is mainly stock except for a few bolt ons (exhaust, ls6 intake, pulley).

Thanks

Just getting loose enough for boost...6psi will be just getting warmed up for the old girl.

You talking factory heads/cam with turbo? I personally wouldn't be concerned with mileage. There's no way to know when a motor will let go, but boost won't help lol. Boost it and have fun! There's always the junkyard 5.3 or 6.0 option if something happened.

Good tune and fuel system keep it under 10lbs and don't spin the motor past 6500 other than that nothing u can really do. Might try a compression test but as long as you no the motors history as far as maintenance and it runs good there's not alot else to do it may blow quick may last forever either way good luck

I'm about to turbo my ls1. It has 231k miles on the clock. Just doing valve springs and pushrods. Everything else motor wise will be bone stock. Just make sure you have another car to get to and from work haha
