Default Huron Speed Single Turbo Non-AC Forged 347 High Compression E85+Meth Build

The car was a built nitrous car that has gone a best of 9.55@138 on a 175 shot. I was content with it being a nitrous car forever until Jon @ Huron Speed post last year that he was offering a group purchase on his first run of front mount turbo kits. I sent him a $500.00 deposit last November if I recall and the kit arrive this year in February. It then has sat in my garage in a corner do to some personal issues until the last few weeks.

Here is the plan:
Use my 12:1 compression nitrous motor with the only change to it being the installation of a custom grind Tick performance cam and make 750+ to the wheels and continue to go mid - low 9's or better and spraying a 75 shot of N20 out of the hole at the track.

Run down of works in the car and what going to be in the car:

Turbo Set-Up:
Huron Speed Non-Ac Truck Manifold Kit
Turbonetics 7875 1.15 AR
XSPower 50MM BOV
ASPower 44MM WG (This will be upgraded to the Turbonetics RG-45)

So my first order of business was to clean up the truck manifolds I purchased.

This is what the basically looked like (borrowed this image from google)

I sand blasted the manifolds and sanded the heat shields. Then had a friend powder coat the manifolds with a 2,000 degree powder. I painted the heat shields with black wood stove paint. I've used this on my headers in the past. Always looks good and holds up well.

This is what they look like mounted up to my junk block with some new hardware

I plan on cleaning up the engine bay a bit today and installing the intercooler. I'll post that up later.

Got the bumper off and bolted up the intercooler.

Can't decide if I want to cut out the rest of the grill area or not.

I'll be interested to see how this turns out. I don't think I've ever seen a turbo build with this high of compression.

I'm travelling for work the next few days and my block is at the machine shop being cleaned and checked. If I get it back this weekend i'll get the motor reassembled and the turbo kit bolted up hopefully.

This thing is gonna rip with very little boost. You gonna spray pre or post compressor?

i have almost the same setup with stock bottom end and on 12 lbs of boost on 11.1 cr it feels way better than it did on the nitrous. also i am running the turbonetics 7875 1.15 ar from huron speed and a ptc 3200 converter it is at 12 lbs by the time i hit 3300 rpm.

It'll be post compressor with a 92mm nitrous daves plate.

Not a ton to report right now since I have been traveling for work and my block isn't back from being cleaned yet.

But when I mocked the kit on my junk motor I noticed the 38mm WG flange did not sit flush with the 38mm - 44mm WG adapter. In the picture below I have it pretty torqued down.

So after doing some reading here and there about possible boost creep people were seeing, although not a lot, due to the extra distance the WG adapter put the 44mm WG away from the cross-over piping, I decided to do a little fabricating. I cut the 38mm flanges off the adapter and the cross-over and welded on the V-band. Yes my welding is ugly, but it was effective.

Next on the list is to wrap the cross-over piping.

I do have a question someone might be able to answer for me though. Since I'm running a speed density tune is there any need to run O2's? Or can I plug those holes? I will be welding in a wide band bung into the down pipe though.

I'm not sure what other gear heads do at their dinning room tables, but at 2000SS1979's house I wrap hot side piping.

A small update with no pictures. I picked my block back up and ordered my custom blower cam from Martin @ Tick Performance yesterday. I think it is going to perform well.

Next on my list is to get my stall mailed out to PTC to have it changed over to a turbo stall.

I've also decided to go with E85. I think I am going to go twin intank 450LPH Walboros with a -8an feed and a -6an return. I am undecided on what fuel rails I am going to use yet.

I will most likely paint my block and start assembly in the next couple of days. I'll get some pictures posted up of that when I can.

How much boost are you planning on running, given the high compression?

Cool build. I plan on doing something similar but with less compression. Good luck
