Default S480 LQ4 - LS3 H/I or 317/FAST 90?

I've sold the 243 heads/cam off of my LQ4 in preparation for adding boost this winter.
I still have the 317's that came off of it and a FAST 90/LS2 90 but am thinking about selling them and picking up an LS3 setup.
If I do the LS3 stuff it'll be ~$500 difference by the time I sell my FAST. Inconsequential at this point.

Goal is a very easy 600-650 @ the tire thru a 4L80E/12 bolt initially and 1k+ once it gets a built motor/trans.

This will be a pump gas, no meth/corn combo now, eventually it may be put on E85 once it gets a built motor but for now it needs to do it on 91.

Which would you run and why?

Default Stick with what you have

I would stick with the 317's just have them freshened up. As far as why it boils down to preference I am an LS2 guy and I like my cathedral ports, both are viable options.

317s and ls6 intake would get you there easy. First hand experience w fast i have seen it seperated and ballooned at 18lbs. Maybe sell the fast intake and go for a ls6.

^He's got the right idea. If you're set on the LS3 setup, use LSA heads. They have better castings for boost.

Your hp goals are probably much higher than his. LSA heads are a much stronger casting, extra bracing in the rocker areas but also has a hell of a swirl ramp under the intake valve that everyone seems to remove for the increase in flow. Op decide on your budget and how much power you want to make. There is a volvo in the area That is making just under 1000 to the wheels w a 5.3, 317s, ls6 intake,s480, arp bolts and stock internals.

Thanks for all of the input guys.
My end goal will be high xxx's. That's a couple years down the road.
For now I'm shooting for 6-650 on the stock shortblock and 4L80E and I will not creep from that.
Eventually it will get better internals and a built trans, then the wick will get turned up.
I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for a set of LSA's till it comes time to throw it back together. If no find by then I'll re-evaluate.
