Would be a good idea to sonic test the block first. The iron 6.0L blocks have thin cyls. I have 11 blocks in my shop and thickest one is .155" between cyl wals. Thinist is .089". Not only can they split cyls when thin they don't stay round lose ring seal.

Filling wouldn't hurt but best thing would be a sonic test. I just saw an article where that 408CI twin turbo pinto that runs high 7's split a cpl cyls in same exact place. He was making a lot of power but I doubt it was +.065'' over. Even for a lower HP or NA deal I would still sonic test it. The thin block will usually show up on the hone.

You can do it but its not recommended. I have been selling a lot of take out LS3 pistons on Ebay and I know for a fact there were a few guys buying them to make budget 6.2L engines out of 6.0L truck blocks.

Like stock48 said the block should be sonic checked as the cyl walls will be getting very thin @ 4.065

fill it to the water pump ports and it should be fine for normally aspirated only. Mine is 4.07".

I concur on the thin walls on the 6.0 blocks. My machinist sonic tested mine before the build, and it was only .060 in the thinnest area of the cylinder wall. I ended up buying a new GEN IV iron block from Chevrolet and the thinnest wall he could find was .220 !!
What a difference ...

I would not do it then. Get a 6.2L block. If I had it to do over, I would not worry about having a 4.07" bore/4.100" stroke near 427" engine. I would have stopped at a 408".

If it's a Gen 4 iron block like staited above and measures thick It would be fine. I have no experience with the iron Gen 4's all my blocks are gen 3's. Kinda makes you wonder about the alum blocks that are .500" of alum vs .100-.150" cast iron.

Then just build a 5.3 or some combination of that size.
Sounds like your trying to pc together left overs.
With the price of a 5.3 it really isn't worth the hassle.
Turbo selection will make a bigger difference than bore size.
