Anyways, it seems that I've read before that they handle it pretty well. I'd just always heard of everyone going iron..

That is mainly due to availability.

Guess its just odd that aluminum is as sought after as the iron. Just wouldn't think its as strong.. just bought the block though. It came with everything rods.

Aluminium is lighter, it has thick cylinder walls, it is very strong, it is light and they're still very cheap.

That's why so many people are now using them with boost.

I've had mine for 3 years. Running 10-14 lbs ...its a strong motor...I'd never do a cast iron 5.3 ..the l33 is 4x better

The aluminum 5.3 block has really thick steel sleeves which makes those stronger then the aluminum 5.7 or LS2 6.0.

Forged pistons and rods. Probably20 dyno pulls, 30-50 quarter mile runs, 1000 street miles.

I pm'ed you about it. I'm building a 5.3 and want to know what pistons and rods are proven for long periods of time at 4 digit power levels. Since I will be putting down 900+ right off on mine.

I may actually pick up a spare. Could use the block for a 383 striker for my vette. Or, a spare for when my turbo project blows up! Ha!

Mine is completely stock cam, springs, head studs, and gaskets only. I made 20-25passes this year and went 8.76@156 with mine. They are the ****.

I would guess the 850-900whp range is where you will need to consider forged internals. I have a L33 short block being assembled with weisco's and eagle rods now and I will push my stock short block until it pops on E85 and a larger turbo in the spring. then switch.

If u need a spare I have these 2 sitting here they'll need to be torn down and cleaned up, might as well gap the rings for boost while they get torn apart and reassembled
