Default Suggestions for easist to set up 2 stage boost controller.

Looking for a 2 stage boost controller, 1 stage for on the T/brake and 2nd stage for off the brake. I'm a set it and leave it alone kind of person so when I do make changes it will be infrequent and needs to be simple.

Please give suggestions, the easier to use the better I'm a product of public education so needs to be simple.

AMS-500 is a great choice for a set it and forget it person. Rock solid boost control and the best customer service in the industry.

My trans brake works by closing the ground to activate the solenoid (jakes performance 4L80e) any issue with these boost controllers?

You can make a simple two stage controlller I had it this way seemed to work great was cheap and easy to make.

Buy a solenoid and two manual controllers one for "high boost" one for low or whatever you want for your transbrake. If you want to spend money leash or ams1000s are great products. This is a budget friendly version.
Both ams and leash can be used with co2 if you want

Nice gated 2 stage electric manual boost controllers on ebay for around 80bucks.that thread here on boost control solenoids has the link to the guys ebay store.

edit: union7 is his ebay seller name.basically same thing camaro9969 made but more stages can be stacked on.pretty cool deal for non-co2 mbc.im gna use one for 1/4 & 1000ft dragboat racing.have it leaving on max boost and reduce boost at the 660 on.

mbc and boost noid, can easily make 2 stages for cheap. Use wg spring for 1st stage, the mbc for 2nd, can be wired into a button or for your transbrake too.

or you can do 10lbs on the bottom port and usually 2x that when you connect the top, solenoid letting boost to the top, that will usually double your boost,

so you can launch on lower gate pressure and then run on high.

also a simple solution nearly the same as what everyone suggested, just another way of doing it

in my experience you can setup the gate for 6psi, connect the top and hit 12, and then remove the reference completely and get 18 on backpressure alone

just some food for thought and experimenting,

you could theoretically noid the brake and each gear haha

ive never tried it but thought connecting the top only port then should go 4x or max out the turbo

when you say connect the top does that mean having equal pressure on top of the diaphragm as on the bottom?

correct,

boost reference the bottom with a 10lb spring ~10lbs as normal

then put a T fitting at the gate and connect top and bottom and get ~20lbs

disconnect entirely, no reference at all and backpressure from the exhaust should get you 30lbs at the intake, if the turbo can feed it.

i have done this many many times with the china gates at least, i have sprung for 3-6 psi unintentionally, and not wanting to waste time, flat out disconnected the wastegate
and it goes 12-18

also i have used a simple shop air and regulator setup to push down on hte top of the gate while on the dyno and not wanting to stop and pull apart the gate and put more springs in while tuning.

you can also see where backpressure starts to take over, or at least what i figure to be high backpressure situation, when you add 5psi to the top and get 3-4, and then add 15psi to the top and only get 10lbs, the diminishing return lets me know the spring is just weak or backpressure is starting to come up and pushing it open earlier.

eitherway i am no expert but this is what works for me haha
