Default Rear Mount 76mm Turbo '01 M6 Z28 10.76 @ 133

So I've been on tech for several years but just decided to start posting again about my rear mount turbo project, call me determined (or stubborn) but since I first bolted on the original STS kit I've been on a mission to make this rear mount setup work, to an extent...I know there are alot of front mount big turbo guys out there putting down some really fast times especially with Auto setups and if thats what I wanted to do I would have (at the time there was no A/C retaining front mount kits available and I just love rowing gears ) so Ill save you all the trouble YES A FRONT MOUNTED TURBO IS FASTER and YES MY CAR WOULD BE FASTER WITH AN AUTO (and I am going to test that theory this winter) that's not what this thread is about tho.

My goal was to make my Z28 into a fun street driven mid 10 second street car still a SIX SPEED with full weight and A/C, reliable and with no issues that I can drive just about anywhere I want (have driven the car to Texas...in August lol) So after 1 stock LS1 (#7 oops bad tune) ditching the LT headers for stock manifolds, 3 different turbos (testing out different combos spool vs efficiency) and after re-doing just about everything about the STS kit only thing left from STS was the exhaust pipe going into turbo and the cold side pipe running along the subframe everything else I did myself, and the car gaining almost 300lbs with the Iron block, S60 and all the turbo piping (Race-weight 3,945lbs) I'm almost at my goal and the car has more left in it and is a blast to drive on the street, Ill be honest its a bit laggy (nothing a little brake boost can't fix) but not much more than some of the bigger single turbo builds I've seen. I see full 14.5 psi by around 4,500-4,700 rpm and stays solid all the way to redline 6,500 my AFR is right at 11.0 and run 14* of timing so nothing on kill here. I've turned every wrench on this car since stock and take pride in that as well.

2001 Camaro Z-28 M6:
- Stock Bottom End 6.0 LQ4 w/ 317 Heads
- Stock exhaust manifolds w/ 2.5 custom Y-Pipe wrapped
- LPE GT-9 Cam 215/247 .629/.656 121 LSA w/ dual springs
- Custom rear mounted Master Power 76mm T4 Turbo w/.96AR @ 14.5 psi
- Alky Control Meth Injection Single #15 Nozzle
- Racetronix 255 fuel pump with KB BAP
- Siemens 60lbs Mototron Injectors
- 2 Bar Speed Density Tune w/ HP Tuners
- MSD 2-Step Set at 4,500 rpm
- AEM Tru Boost Controller (Helps alot with spool if setup correctly)
- Stage 2 T56
- Mantic 9000 Twin Disc Clutch
- Strange S60 Rear w 3.73s
- M&H 325/45-17 Drag Radial
- Race Weight : 3,945 Lbs
- Est Power 720+whp @ 14.5 psi (car has been street/track tuned, car wont dyno well because of exhaust fumes being sucked in while sitting still on dyno made 693 on 13psi, no issues on the road tho, plus a better tune IMHO a dyno just a tuning tool and a #)
-Best ET so far: 10.76 @ 132.86 w/ 1.76 60 ft

Badass build and great job on hitting your goals, a buddy of mine is running a similar setup with stock 6.0 all the way and rear mount custom kit on 8 psi for now t56 as well, he trapped 122 here in Denver Co, he's looking to up the boost and go bar 2 map speed density along with meth injection, you will be an inspiration to him.

Thanks guys, car still has more left in it going to focus on some weight loss and suspension this winter to get my short time down....I really like doing roll-racing and runway type events as well drag racing is rough on a 6-Speed especially once you start pushing big power

Congrats. I believe I saw you at cars and coffee in Manalapan, but you left your car before i was able to speak with you.

My car is a pig as well. Full interior with a cage. How is that clutch working out?

Oh yea I was at one of the last ones with my buddy and his yellow '02 CETA hope they do them again next year.

I love the Mantic its one of the best clutches I've ever driven or raced has great almost stock like pedal feel but can handle over 1,000 ft.lbs of tq. I had a spec 2+ in my car before and that was ok but with the added power it was at its limit for tq rating and also with the tick master it was super heavy. Now I had driven several 5th gens and Corvettes with Mantics so I knew thats the clutch I wanted but once I put it in my car I was very surprised how good the pedal felt even with the tick master cylinder still the Mantic felt like stock and I can slip the crap out of it at the track and bang gears withouth an issue and it just laughs at me like thats it?!?...So yea I like it lol

Good stuff. Full 14# by 4500 with a 3.73 seems pretty good to me. That's nice power for that little turbo too. I'm doing a rear mount next season and am in the research phase so thanks for posting the info!!

Thanks, thats one of the reasons I posted I know when I was doing research it was hard to find a proven setup with the rear mounts especially with a T56. Just like everything else they have they're place in the performance world. Ill post up some build pics later on...

Yeah... buddy of mine wants to do a rear mount set up. But doesn't agree or believe me that he SHOULDN'T run long tubes and SHOULD run manifolds. I don't think he's grasping the laws of physics on thermal heat distribution and how that correlates With the turbo.
