Speed Inc 1970 4x4 Blazer LS3/6L80 TT(budget)morer Pics
thought some of you may be interested in my latest project swap:1970 K5 blazer 4x4 that I picked up earlier this year.I bought the truck out of Baja Ca. original paint zero rust couldn't pass it up so last Friday I pulled the carb'd 383 and TH350 trans out and started my swap here are the plans:
I have a L92/LS3 that I got from a friend for a song and dance, and a donated 6L80E out of a 2007 Escalade.Decided that wasn't enough so I also scrounged together a set of used Grand National turbos that I will be running as well.
It will be kept 4x4 using a NV241 T-case with a pass front diff drop,I have also ordered the Dirty Dingo complete front replacement cross member and mount kit for the swap, should be here today.
I was able to get the aluminum radiator Precision turbo a/a inter cooler and the dual 4th gen fans mounted as an assembly this past Saturday and my intentions are to have the motor in and turbo fab started by the beginning of the weekend. Here are the pics so far:

motor and trans are in,working out the Escalade T-case to be clocked differently for the pass front diff in the blazer.Looks like I can rotate it to be 180 degrees off from factory,Ill have to plug the vent tube, make a new pick-up for the internal pump then drill and tap for a new vent tube and weld a bung on it for the proper fill hole height and level,But it will be bad dog full time AWD!Should have the harness by the end of the week, fuel system is coming together using a 1991 Bronco II tank, fits perfectly btw.By the end of the coming weekend it should be nearly ready to run and turbo fab will begin.

.turns out the Escalade T-case doesnt have an internal pump in it,so I was able to just plug the existing vent tube and make a new fill/drain plug location and a new vent. The adapter took slight modification with a die grinder to orient the T-case where I wanted it,no big deal, bolted right up and worked perfectly The original trans mount/cross member was used and almost seemed like it was made for the swap,I had to drill 4 new holes in the frame for mounting position and make a stand off for the differance in height between the original and the new mount on the 6L80 very simple. The bronco II fuel tank fits perfectly and was mounted using the original straps rotated 90 degrees with a piece of uni-strut bolted to the frame in the front and 2 new holes drilled at the rear frame cross member and bolted through. The fuel system will be done by this weekend via a small sump at the rear of the tank with 2 externally mounted walboro 255 pumps wyed together. And finally I wwent with the Holley High Ram EFI intake to fill up the engine bay a bit...turbo fab starts soon

danimal, beautiful work as always. Curious as to which ECM / TCM you end up running with and what year OS. Are you just keeping everything a 2007 Escalade (from a swap perspective)?

Ill take the compliment, but this stuff literally feel into place on this build, the intercooler off Jim's Caddy build that he decided to change design on and it fit perfectly around my radiator so all I had to do is make mounts for that. The manifolds fit perfectly as well and once the drivers side turbo position was determined all that was needed was a few measurements to determine where the pass turbo needed to be to be symmetrical. This has been one of the most fun and easiest builds I have done. The gas tank is from a Bronco II,now the funny thing about the gas tank is it fit in the original hole very well, however the original used cross straps and the Bronco used straps that ran parallel to the frame, all that was needed was a piece of uni-strut bolted to the frame and the original gas tank straps worked like they were meant to be there...
