Default aluminum down pipe for street car?

i know a lot of guys run it but what about street duty? i've been told it might crack close to the turbo from the extreme temp changes and extended duty. i would like to do this because 5" stainless pipe/bends are very heavy and majorly expensive...

I ran full length aluminum exhaust on my setup, lots of street miles (drag week) and no issues at all. I have (2) 3.5 down pipes. My friend has an aluminum 5in down pipe and had zero issues with his on DW either. Use .120 wall for a few feet then go to .065. Good welds and you won't have a problem

Any of you guys making low timing hits on the street? Just driving I don't see it being a problem at all, but when you start racing a lot on the street and running lower timing, you might melt it. I've got video of my car with the entire exhaust glowing when we had junk tires on it and lots of timing out to make it hook.

That's a good question skinnies. My fairmont dp gets red hot I run my timing low when I run on the street and cause of shitty gas around here. I would be a little Leary about aluminum dp. But I have been thinking about trying it on my fairmont anyways.

Probably why you don't have any issues, running over 1000rwhp and some mud/snow tires make that impossible for me to do, we have to run low timing to make it hook.

Ive had my kit glowing on the streets too, 16 degrees. Highly doubt aluminum would hold up along with the 2 step poppin
