Iron block or Aluminum block for high boost?

Wow, these things impress the heck out of me..
I am doing an L33 with ported 799's and a small cam right now for my 79 Malibu, goal is to get 20mpg on the highway and still make at least 600rwhp.. Turbo isn't decided yet, Reed @ Work Turbo will set me up something nice.

If you are going to forge the internals of either, I'd just do it to your existing LS1. You'll have more cubes (so it will take less boost to make more power), and you won't be out the hassle of selling it, and looking for a good deal on a 5.3. Plus you'll have more piston options to choose from with the LS1. For what you're looking to do with it, a forged LS1 will hold just fine.

Yes that is what I did with mine and went with flat top wiesco pistons. I've been running my aluminum 346ci ls1 for 4 years with no major problems. Going to push it to 20-22psi on the new turbo come fall. I was pushing 22psi last year on a pt7675 without issue.

As others have said, I would try really hard to find an L33 pull out, or just the block. Stock crank, good H-beams, Pistons with thick pins, and good rings. Throw some studs in and let er' eat.
Edit: Just realized how much of a bump this is lol.
