Default Turbo and TH400. Converter?

82 S-10, 5.3 LH6, S475/83 T4 turbo, Vic Jr EFI single plane w/90mm TB, Tick spec'd cam, TH400 w/brake, Ford 8.8 w/9" ends, spool and 3.73's, 275 MT DRs.

Truck will be NHRA cert to run 9.90 super gas, fully SFI and will be track only, hoping for 3000lb race weight.

Trans will most likely be built by Hutch's with Griner brake.

I've searched here for posts regarding boost and TC's for 400's, but only found a few and some are quite dated. Really need a consistent, repeatable and reliable converter.

I'd love a Chance, but I'm certain its not in the budget. What's what for verters nowadays?

I loved my PTC converter in my Th400. I had their cheaper version ($460) and it only had like 10-11% slip in a 3900lb 700+WHP car. They'll probably suggest their $950 one because you're gonna go with a brake. I just sold my Th400 and converter because I'm going 80e, and I'll be getting another converter from them for the 80e. Great company, and great products. They're a smaller company (personnel wise) so they can sell their converters cheaper than bigger places, yet still have the same/better quality.

I too used a pct converter, I had the 21 blade stator street strip 10" converter which as stated was the cheaper version with a stator upgrade.. I just last week got their 9.5 in converter which was double the cost but definitely works better all the war around..

PTC for sure has the turbo aspect of converters covered. I almost bought one. But, Circle D also makes a hell of a converter for Turbo cars. I decided to give them a try this time.
