Default ~650whp, 4l80e, what stall and rear gear?

I'm building up a 5.3 with a Turbonetics 7875, and I just bought a 4l80e, and it came with a circle D triple disc converter, that on a 370 with an F1 stalled around 4300 rpm. I'm debating having it restalled for my combo, or running as is. Anyway, I'm also wondering what kind of rear end gearing would work well for my car. 02 Camaro, probably a little over stock weight (Iron block, 4l80 weight + turbo kit weight) so probably 3800-3900 pounds? Mostly street and strip use, probably more strip now.

I'm wondering what combo of rear end gear and stall would work well getting the turbo spooled? I plan to run a 28" tire on the track for sure, probably the MT pro radial. Probably going to run the stock truck cam for now also. Thanks for any insight on this, I know for an M6 car you spec based on trap rpm, but an auto seems like a little more is involved.

3:55 gears and Id try the converter. Should be around 38-4100rpm with a turbo behind it. Depending on if theres a transbrake and or 2 step. It also depends how soon you want to drive the car or budget. No clue if circle d is anywhere local.

It does have a rossler brake. I think I'll just ry it for now and if it doesnt do what I'd like I'll restall it later, from what I read about 3600-4000 or so is about ideal on a turbo car?

I'm running a Yank PY-3400 on my 4l80e with a tbrake and 2 step. Haven't ran with the 2 step yet. Making about 750whp right now with an s60 with 3.54 gears(lowest option). if I had a 9" I'd probably go with a 3.27 although the 3.54 should be fine with my power goals. With a 28" tire, 6600rpm, and 3.54 I should be good to 148-150mph at the top of 3rd.

Looks like you beat me to the punch on that 4l80e swap setup. I was going to have that converter tightened up for my pt7675 car. From talking to the sell I think you will need to have it re-stalled to around 35-38k and tightened up. That turbo will need the load. I have a Circle D single disk in my 4l60e stalled at 3200 and it stalls/spools nice.

3.23 (10 bolt) and 3.25 (9 inch) worked very well in my car with a 28" tire. You will want something in that range if you plan on doing 140+ mph and not spin the 5.3 too high.

I have a MWC 9" rear so it looks like 3.25s would be ideal for me then, thanks for the input! I will have to call circle d about the stall, but it seems like I'll probably want to restall the converter for my combo. Maybe if I run low on funds I'll try it as is lol.

I ended up with a 4l80, 3.27 gear and circle d 4000 rpm stall. Seems to do pretty well, although it does lug 4th a bit. I am raising up shift speeds accordingly to see how that does. Did not really feel that as much with the 3.73s.

3.73 would be my pick with your setup.

650 @ 3900lbs should get you trapping around 128.

So if 650whp is your ultimate goal and you don't plan to make any more power you'd have the best mechanical advantage gearing the car to hit 130 or so by redline in 3rd locked up. This will help considerably with a heavy car IMO.

Depends how high you want to rev the car, but I like to keep it right around 6k on stock stuff.

3.73 should get you around 134 locked up in third at 6krpm with a 28" tire. Give or take a few 100rpm for fudge factor. I wouldn't go any lower than a 3.55. OD should take care of you when cruising.

Heres the calc I use.
