Default Truck manifolds with egr, ok for turbo build?

Hey all, I already have truck manifolds with erg ports. Is there any reason not to use them? I know the non egr are optimal, but why? Anybody run the egr manifolds with their build?

we just cut them off, make a piece of steel to cover the hole we have from cutting them off and weld it up and smooth it down. Never an issue. GL
