Default p1sc on stock L59 5.3

I'm in the middle of a 5.3/4l60e swap into my '66 c-10 and have the opportunity to pick up a p1sc kit at a pretty dang nice price.

I have a couple concerns:
One is for the longevity of the transmission. Can a basically stock 4l60e hold the power? Trans has a beast sunshell and a corvette servo…thats about it.

Second is regarding any motor prep I should do beforehand. Maybe open up the top ring gap?

Any advice is welcome. I'm new to LSx motors -and- boost, total noob.

Stock 4L60e should never be used with boost. It won't blow up the first time, but it WILL blow up

Thanks for the reality check. I'll have to hold off for now.

A stock 4l80e with a transgo hd2 kit WILL hold the power though. The motor should be fine other than valve springs and injectors.

I've been keeping my peepers peeled for a good deal on a compatible 4l80e, but it'll require a lot of parts-shuffling

It's my understanding the flex fuel injectors could handle a little boost.

4l60e wont hold long as mentioned. 80e is the route to go. Even a stock 80e can hold well for a good time.

Keep in mind there are forward and reverse rotation ProCharger head units. You don't want to buy one that is going to be designed to spin the opposite direction, from what you need. I sell a lot of ProCharger parts to people who buy used head units, and I run into this problem all the time. Just last week there was a guy who bought a complete used GTO kit to use on his F Body, he was told by the seller it would work... Bob

Minor. You'll need an extra VSS that you'll have to pin into the ecu. Not hard at all and you can buy a kit for $99 with everything you need, or you can clip off a connector at the junkyard and do it yourself.

You will need to have a segment swap done on your ecu to swap from 60e to 80e. You can send it off or do it with HPtuners.

Bob, thanks for that info. Probably saved me a really big headache!

HexenLord, thanks I'll look into it.

Probably ought to just get it running as stock first before I go throwing a buncha money at it.
