Default 8.65 8rib pulley crank F-Body ProCharger

Has anyone made the change from the 7.65 to 8.65 crank pulley with out switching the blower pulley to see how much more boost it makes? Please list you setup.

Thanks

So no one has used this pulley yet? I know he has sold a lot of them so far.

Mine is stuck in Louisiana and will be going on as soon as I get it. I still don't know if it will clear my vet water pump since I had to go to it, when I got my Aster bracket. I will have my 3.90 pulley and probably overspinning my F1a by 8600 rpms. We will see what happens. I was only getting about 13#'s with the 7.65 crank pulley.

Andy, back in the day I was seeing 18 to 20 psi of boost with my 408 with an F-1A and a 3.90 blower pulley at 6800 rpm. This was with the standard ProCharger J Bracket, we had to tighten the snot out of the belt on every run.

You have a problem somewhere, either a problem with the (highly unlikely) blower, inlet restriction, valvetrain problem, boost leak or a faulty bypass valve. I would not overspin the blower by 8600 rpm, that will almost surely end up in a disaster happening. What have you done so far troubleshooting wise? Bob

Hey bob I did do a boost leak test via the brake booster hose. I sealed the tubbing right where it connects to the head unit. I found out I had leaks at my injectors and bought the katech thicker o-rings to seal that up. Also had a leak above the throttle body and i sealed that. A guy I know said he overspins his vortech by 10% and no issues. So you think spinning it passed its max will damage it?

1,000 past max rpm is somewhat safe but I wouldn't overspin it the rpm you are thinking of doing. For one thing, it would probably create cavitation and make less boost, besides the possibility of catastrophic failure. There is a problem somewhere that needs to be corrected. I have seen older LS6 intake manifolds that are the boost problem, as age destroys plastic. Bob

Im still using the smaller hat which is getting me 13#. How much more boost would I see with a truck hat and bigger air filter?

I'm guessing quite a bit more, in the range of 3-5psi more.

Andy, you could try making one or two runs in a dry clean area without the inlet and filter and see if the increase in boost doesn't shock you. Bob

i know KP drilled holes in his inlet hat and put smaller filters along the body off it to add flow into the blower. its an idea. I always look to him for ideas when it comes to making things efficient. the guy had a nasty setup and didnt even have the bells and whistles some of us have.

You will probably see about 12% more boost than you have now.

That smaller hat will only flow about 13#. Take it off to see true boost potential.

Here's what I did with the F-body blower hat on my D1. This is my version of KP's idea's that came up in a thread a few years ago.

Procharger supplied filter on the left new filer on the right. http://mycarpics.shutterfly.com/276

K/N # for big filter ^^^ http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...id=449860&rw=1

Added this little filter for the bypass hole. I had a frost plug in that hole to start. http://mycarpics.shutterfly.com/277

K/N # for the small filter ^^^ http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...id=449856&rw=1

D1SC, not P1

But yes, it gained 2psi, stock motor, stock Procharger filter and bracket. Only change was the crank pulley
