Default ptc converters

just wanna give a shout out to Tim at PTC. guys over there are hands down the best with their customer service. Tim gave me a great price on the converter for my 5.3 to th400 and was able to answer everyone of my questions leaving me without feeling like I forgot to ask something.

For you guys running them. Why PTC over the other companies?
Is it that they make a real good FI converter or something?

Ive never ran a ptc convertor, but mentioned them to a buddy of mine and he loves them.

I might send my off since my local convertor guy has tried to restall mine 3 times now to get it right.

also this is in the FI section...

for me my car came with one, they came highly recommended when I was ready to change it to something better. When I talked to ptc they knew exactly what I needed to get to where I was wanting. Every other company said I would likely have to send it back and forth a couple time to get it right.. Ptc hit it right the first time. And for a 9.5 converter 3600 stall I drives better than the 10" converter it replaced so I can believe the 3-5mph gain I would expect..
They hit it on right exactly on the first converter..
I hope that helps you to understand why I am a fan of ptc.

Not just FI. I know a lot of people who swear by them. Not just LS guys either. Like mentioned, they are usually spot on. Not sending back and forth to get right. I'm selling my Yank to switch to a PTC.

PTC converters here. Never had a bad dealing with them and cars usually seem to get the job done.

I have a 9" ATI that was spec'd for my 498" rat motor. I sent them an email when I started this project and got no response.
I'll try it as is, maybe it will be ok. If not, perhaps PTC could rework it. It was $950 back in 06, so it has good stuff inside.

Please do not take this as a bashing post. I am only sharing my exact situation with PTC.

I'm on my 3rd converter in 15 passes. I called, talked to Lane, and gave him all the specs he asked for. They sent me a converter and even before I could get the driveshaft sensor hooked up, I could tell it was way too loose. I sent it back, and Lane hesitantly tightened it up "as much as I can with this type of converter". I put 10 passes on it with a driveshaft sensor, and it was still way too loose even with the power turned way down. I gave Lane a call and he told me "I grossly underestimated the power you were making". So now I have another converter from him but have not had a chance to try it yet.

Given all that, I will say.......they always answer the phone, Lane always calls me back when I leave a message with the lady that answers the phone, they have had no issue with working with me to get the right set up.

I am from the camp that realizes that it is rare to nail a converter on the first try. I am very happy with how they are handling the situation. Just wish we were a little closer the first go round.

Not because Yank is bad in anyway, it's just a big stall nitrous/na converter. Not really what I need for my build.

PTC here too. I got mine through Jake Transmissions when I bought my 4L80 trans. I haven't had a chance to get it running yet, but I hear nothing but good things about them so far. Hoping they got close on the first try. I know turbo converters are a little trickey to nail.

You guys mention that nailing the spec on the converter takes a few restalls. What is the best way to figure this out? I run a py3400 from yank and it's great and all, but what am I looking for in a stall to know if it's too loose or tight? So far it seems to be working well for me but honestly I don't know what to look for.
