Default Is this normal in a catch can ?

Just emptied my catch can and this is what is coming out. Is this normal? I have a mighty mouse can with 2 -8 fittings off my valve covers and 1 off the valley cover.

It's a mixture of motor oil/water (moisture) has your car been sitting for awhile? You shouldn't see that on a regular basis.

This is what came out of mine yesterday. Looks like alot of the same ****. Definitely freaked me out for a second, because so much of it was water. But turns out it is normal. And mine had been sitting for a little while without starting.

That looks like it could be an algae growing in the catch can. I have seen it in industial oil tanks where water accumulates in the bottom of the tank (oil floats on top). The agae lives in the water layer and eats the hydrocarbons as food. That is disgusting. I need to go drain my catch can.

Mine sits more than anything as it is still only being driven like once a week and mine is tons of water with a hint of oil and fuel. Nasty stuff...just think that would be going back through the motor ordinarily.

In a vented loop system like the factory has the water goes away once temperature is reached, it vapors off into the intake and gets wasted like humidity in the air. In a catch can system the flow goes both ways and moisture cannot be controlled. This will cause moisture to collect in the can making the mess you see.
